Fantastic, welcoming staff. Delicious food at very reasonable prices! We really enjoyed our lunch at The Belsair whilst relaxing in the well decorated bar area. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Sanday.
This is under New Management. Kay was so friendly and welcoming. When we arrived we were shown to our rooms which were comfortable and very clean. The food was delicious, we had the local fish. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was hot and well presented. We will definately be returning. If you want to experience real Orkney hospitality, stay at The Belsair.
Agree with other posts, great staff, great food. Bit of a close shave to catch our ferry. Remember to mention to staff if you are catching the ferry... We even managed to deliver food to someone on the ferry... Everyone happy. Phew
We have eaten at the Belsair on several occasions now and have not been disappointed. Kay and her husband have just taken over this establishment, and have made a wonderfully warm and welcome establishment. Locally caught fish and produce is on the menu, and very reasonably priced, there is always a lovely warm fire. Nothing is too much trouble and the bar is always well stocked!! Make sure you ask Kay about her handmade chocolates, they are absolutely amazing.
Kaye is the perfect hostess and she could not have been more helpful or friendly. She is also an amazing cook, and if you get a chance to try her sticky toffee pudding, definitely do not miss it! The beds are really comfy, the views are stunning, the staff are so helpful and delightful, it was an absolute joy to stay. My only regret is that it wasn't for longer. I would thoroughly recommend the Belsair to anyone.
We came here in August 2017 for an overnight stay at the bed and breakfast with our puppy. We had such a wonderful time and would have highly recommend this place. We came back this year with our motor home and cycled 20 minutes with the dogs in trailers to get something to eat and a beer at the Belsair only to be welcomed that they have never allowed dogs in at all since the new owner took over 7 years ago. We had been there five years previously and it was acceptable then. We had to sit outside in the wind with our beer with the dogs. Needless to say we didn’t order any food had two beers and left. I can only say I’m sadly disappointed as I was really looking forward to taking a trip down memory lane. Maybe I should have checked their new dog friendly policy.||I would have given this place 4 stars as it previously was dog and people friendly.||If you want to take a dog check with the owner as this may have a different outcome
Travelled to Sanday to see relatives so booked in for the evening meal.||Good choice of starters (nachos were excellent) and varied mains. I had the fish and chips and it was very good.||Wife is vegetarian and there were a couple of choices for her which she also enjoyed.||if visiting the island I can thoroughly recommend. ||Overall a great meal at a reasonable price in lovely surroundings.||Big shout out for the staff - very friendly and welcoming. Thanks
I travel to Sanday on a regular basis through the winter and the Belsaire is always welcoming and warm. The food is great value for money. The owner and all the locals that drink in the bar always have time for a chat. I highly recommend staying here if you are visiting the island.||R. Frampton
