Best KPortal Reviews

After a windswept walk along Hythe seafront it seemed only appropriate to have a pub lunch to replace the calories burned. It was one of the best pub roast lunches I think I’ve ever had. Proper home cooked roast & home made M&M cheesecake. Highly recommended & very reasonably priced too. The staff were friendly & welcoming. The service was excellent & efficient. The gravy on the roast was a little less than I would have liked but the waitress happily retrieved a gravy boat for me to remedy that. The only other minor thing is that I prefer whole carrot pieces rather than mashed carrots but that’s personal preference. I certainly would go back for a repeat performance. Thank you to the staff for a lovely time.
Down in Hythe for a couple of nights and wanted some pub grub. Lovely roast chicken and pie. Plenty of it and extremely reasonable. They're under new management and deserve to be supported. If we were local we would definitely be regulars.
Just under new management and work was being done in one if the rooms. It was chilly and the outside door was left open. No food. Guinness took a very long time to arrive. BUT excellent loos with thoughtful provisions. Once new owners have settled in should be better
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ was here for dinner 8/11/2023 didn't have my phone to take photos ..this was the most delicious meal we had through our entire tour of Europe we had the Duck , Chicken curry and Lamb & potato gratin
meals came with
a side of veg ..not only were the staff absolutely lovely the food was PERFECTION!! The lamb was cooked to perfection!! The cut the portion size ,the sauce the way it was plated everything about my dish was absolutely memorable !!!... it made my taste buds sing !! God save English cusine ????????
If I had known it would be our last night in Hythe I would of thanked the chef personally
So THANK YOU CHEF I will never forget that meal ????
Fabulous interior. The meal was wonderfull and the staff were so friendly. we had an amazing time and an amazing experience. 10/10 would recomend
Enjoyable meal & pudding. Lovely atmosphere & quick service. : )
The roast was absolutely disgusting beyond belief, meat stone cold potatoes literally made me feel like vomiting ???? and to charge 50 quid for that is beyond a joke, I will never return, and to top it off there was a waitress walking around in a dressing gown????????
This was the second time we have visited the Bell Inn for Sunday lunch.
Not sure what's going on with the tables as they always seem sticky. To be fair there was a member of staff cleaning the tables, so maybe we were just unlucky, although she did seem to spray all over the adjacent tables salt and pepper sachets as well.
Service and the pricing was good.
I had the lamb which was plentiful and nicely cooked, however there were a few things that were definitely different to our last visit.
The dinner already had gravy on it, which is a bugbear of mine and I would of preferred to be able to distribute where and of what quantity of gravy I would like. A jug would of been a better option.
There was some sort of crumb with the dinner (not sure if it was meant to be stuffing) but it did nothing for either presentation or taste.
The roasted veg on the plate was nice, but the veg brought out in a dish (between 3) was smothered in a runny tasteless cheese sauce (think was cauliflower, broccoli and string beans) so you had cauliflower cheese (fine) broccoli cheese and string bean cheese (not so fine).
The biggest issue though was the roasted potatoes. Firstly, the last time we visited, we had some new boiled potatoes on the plate and were brought out a separate dish of very tasty roasted potatoes.
This time however there were about 3-4 small to medium I assume roasted potatoes on the plate. This in itself would of been ok, all be it a bit stingy, but the potatoes were soft with no crispy skin and also must of been smothered in a whole black pepper pot which made them almost un edible.
We enjoyed our first visit last year, but our second visit has put us off as it seems to have gone down in both quantity and quality.
I know times are hard, but these type of cutbacks just put customers off and sadly we are unlikely to return and will look elsewhere for an occasional Sunday roast out.
