Cakes looked good and very reasonable prices but the staff put me off. When I said “just having a look” the lady rolled her eyes and grunted. Both ladies serving then just stared and sneered, I walked away.
Excellent bakery items and sandwiches are absolutely top notch for the prices, shame the service doesn't match. I have lived in the area for over 15 years and it seems as if these people hate their job and would rather be anywhere else. Should have a sign up saying "happiness is punishable by death" as that's what it feels like being served there, as if the whole place is under some sort of threat if they venture to smile at you or be anything other than brusque and rude!
Been in here a few times was hoping first time the lady was just having a bad day but that obviously not the case maybe every day is a bad day. Food is lovely ,shame the staff are not . They are rude and miserable. I wanted to pay by card and the white haired lady bite my head off and slammed the card machine down. Have never once had a smile from any of the staff in there. They also put my rolls into the bags using their hands ????. Needless to say i now avoid the place and go to Greggs instead .
Don't get the hateful reviews moaning about staff smiling. Who cares if they smile? There never rude to customers and the bread/rolls is always top notch
I see this place and thought the cakes in the window looked really nice. Unfortunately the customer service is awful. A lot of shouting and an attitude of customers being a burden. The food wasn’t that good either. Greggs is around the corner, go there instead.
Bought alot of cakes and bread over the years and always amazing! Bought a apple and cinnamon pie and absolutely delicious!!! ????????
If you're not a total arse who desperately needs every human to smile at them constantly or an annoying germaphobe with nothing better to think about then this bakery is perfect for you! Very traditional, family-ran bakery with the most fantastic sandwiches that are good quality and cheap.
The jam donuts and wagon wheels are to die for. Good job I don’t live in Wickford as I’d be really overweight????????. Always very busy!!
