Very nice place, with kind staff. It's almost self-service, but they explain everything.
The day we went was a Monday and the menu only had pies, which were delicious!!
It has relatively close parking, not of the shop, but around there on the street.
Finding a place that would serve Sunday lunch for 6 adults & 4 kids, without an advance booking, is never going to be easy. Someone recommended the Anchor, and we managed to get in for a late sitting, at 4:00. And we really lucked in!
The service was impeccable, from the moment we stepped in. The food was fantastic, and their generosity seemed to know no bounds.
I cannot recommend the Anchor highly enough.
And its dog friendly.
I was a little disappointed there wasn't any Shepherd's pie available, but opted for the soup instead, and it was very tasty, so a good second choice. The fish, chips, and peas were a good size portion and very good quality.
Superb food for our Sunday roast. Julian was brilliant and attentive. Changed loads since last here in 2018. Dogs welcome. Lovely highly recommend.
Good food and very clean, can't comment on the atmosphere as there were only a few in there. I had the Christmas sandwich.
Nice enough food but not a gastropub when mostly microwaved from frozen as was our cold inside boiling hot outside offerings ,not proper garlic bread more a warmed up mini baguette
We stopped in this pub for a drink with friends. The staff were so friendly and chatty. Made us feel very welcome. The pub was relatively busy but the staff still managed to chat with us and get the work done.
The food we saw looked really nice. If we had more time in Swanage we would go back for food.
Such a charming little pub. We came across this place on our first night in Swanage. The staff were immediately friendly and made us feel welcomed. We ordered our dinner, which was from the Christmas menu and we were not disappointed. First came out warm bread with mixture of butter and oil for dipping (was so lovely didn’t even take a picture) we ordered the burger with the Brie and OMG my taste bud have never experienced such a perfect burger! The cheese cake… I couldn’t get enough! It was perfect.
