Best KPortal Reviews
Me and my friends came here after quickly scanning the menu and thinking it was a good choice, we were wrong!
When we arrived for 8pm the restaurant was very empty (first red flag) the decor was quite outdated and there was no atmosphere.
The service was good and our waiter was friendly offering recommendations but quite pushy.
The food was average, garlic bread was stale but everything was edible, just very disappointing for the price of the dishes, and presentation was poor.
I would not advise anyone to eat here though due to the fact both my boyfriend and friend have both been ill with what seems like food poisoning after our visit.
It didn’t seem like the food was very fresh and when offering seafood this is key!
Both of them were left feeling really poorly and under the weather ruining the end of our trip.
Wish we’d looked at reviews and the hygiene rating before hand, don’t be fooled by the menu!
Lots of amazing foodie spots in Newquay, but unfortunately this is not one of them…
The best part of our visit was the garlic cheesy bread we ordered as a starter. That was really fresh and nice. From then on, the visit wasn’t great. The Carbonara pasta we ordered just tasted like butter. The spaghetti pomodoro was better but still average - I felt like I could definitely have made this myself. There was also a lack of vegetarian options on the menu, which I was rather disappointed with. After hearing the waiter dismiss another customer rather rudely, we carefully asked for the bill. The waiter did not return for approximately 30 minutes. We ended up watching a series on my phone during the wait.. safe to say, he did not get a tip. Other waiters seemed friendly though. Ours was not good.
Brought my son here for a treat. Enjoyed two pizzas that were cooked to perfection. Service was great, friendly and attentive. Price was decent too. A great view over the beach. Recommended 5*
Two empty plates and two satisfied customers.
Excellent Italian restaurant, overlooking the beach, tasty hot food and lovely cocktail served! Staff are very welcoming and lovely! Thanks for taking care of me on my last day in Newquay!
The court heard how inspectors found rotting, mouldy and out of date foods at the premises. The premises were not adequately pest proofed, equipment and rooms where food was prepared were dirty and large accumulations of rubbish, grease and dirt were observed within the rear yard.
A share as I'm fed up with this kind of establishment who have the trust of the people they serve to bring them decent and safe food. 3 times you have been warned ! Get out of this business !!!
Amazing place to grab a snack with a gorgeous view of the coastline. Nice outdoor seating and spacious comfortable indoor area as well. Exceptional quality ingredients used and all good tasting as well. Not at all expensive and very appropriately priced.
Reason for the 4 star was because the drinks were not served even by the time we finished our food. This was despite following up 3 times for it. It's unfortunate but not sure if the bar was understaffed or didn't care. But it looked like there was plenty of staff around to serve so i suppose it couldn't have been too difficult to pour a pint and pull out a bottle of coke from the fridge.
Had a lovely lunch here. Great service and delicious food. Good kids menu with pizza and pasta choices. I had the tapas menu and had patatas bravas, tortilla española, and a salad. Only marked down 1* as the very sorry plate of plain pasta they charged me £6.30. Otherwise fantastic.
I was quite disappointed with the experience. The decor is very outdated and the waitress was friendly to begin with but seemed bored. We opted for dishes from the tapas menu to enjoy a variety. Our selections included meatballs, garlic bread, grilled vegetables with mozzarella, aubergine layered lasagna, chicken wings, patatas bravas, and a child-sized portion of spaghetti bolognese.
Starting with the meatballs, we received four ping pong-sized meatballs in a lackluster sauce that resembled frozen ones in taste. The chicken wings were overcooked, dry, and unrecognizable. The aubergine layered lasagna seemed to have suffered a mishap during transit from the kitchen, and while it tasted okay, its presentation was a disappointment.
The grilled vegetables with mozzarella resembled burnt mushrooms and were accompanied by a lackluster, cold serving of mozzarella. The texture was unpleasantly burnt and soggy, and the mozzarella had a watery consistency. The garlic bread was passable, a bit dry but manageable compared to the other offerings. The patatas bravas were decent, not excellent but edible.
My kids enjoyed the spaghetti bolognese, finding it tasty. However, the overall quality of the food was quite poor and not worth the hefty bill of over £60. The service was also lacking; when we complained about the inedible food, the staff's response was disinterested silence. Despite this, they still expected us to pay the full amount.
In conclusion, I would not recommend this place. The expensive bill left us dissatisfied and hungry, prompting a visit to McDonald's afterwards.
