Fantastic lunch!
Was looking for somewhere different to go for lunch with my parents - we usually go to The Pastures; so I googled for some suggestions and Taste came up so I rang and booked for the next day.
The restaurant is small but the tables are well spaced apart so you're not hitting your elbows on the person sat at the next table. My parents ordered Steak and Ale Pie with Chips and a pot of tea for two. I was pleased to find that "fishcake of the day" was smoked haddock. I was even more pleased to order a cheeky glass of Pinot Grigio to go with it.
We weren't kept waiting long before our food arrived. My parents said that the delicious- not too salty like some pies can be, chips were also lovely and proper home cooked too. My fishcake was fab, I could really taste the smoked haddock, it wasn't bland like some fishcakes.
We would definitely recommend this restaurant, the food is as good (if not better) than anything you can get at The Pastures and we're already timing my next visit home with when the owners of Taste are back from holiday in August!
1st time visiting, was a bit unsure with location in the middle of a housing estate/ shops, very pleasantly surprised, nice food, very reasonable, very pleasant staff, nice decor, will be going again soon. The chips are amazing, well done

Heard about the great food. Went last Thursday evening. The restaurant is beautifully furnished. We were well received. I ordered mixed grill and a ribeye. The meals were well below standard and vastly overpriced. The chips were supposed to be home made but were frozen. The steak was tough and small. The meat on the mixed grill can only be described as sandwich meat.
Very very disappointed.
We called for lunch Fish and chips 2 for 10 pound .Very clean , meal was good the service excellent . Friendly and cosy Not in a rural setting so very good value for money .Will try a evening meal next as this for us will be one of many visits.A nice change and setting from a pub meal. Be a lovely place for a Family get together or party .Thank you.
Love this little gem, service is impeccable and Andy & Paul always have a welcoming smile. We’ve visited many times and worked our way through the Old & NEW menu. Food has always been 1st class and beautifully presented.
What a lovely place to eat ! We received a warm welcome to a very cosy atmosphere. Plenty of choice on the menu but not too extensive and reasonably priced. The food was excellent! We will definitely visit again!
What a hidden gem. Fantastic food and service, amazing prices and a great warm friendly atmosphere. Having lived down south for many years this level of food would set you back an arm and a leg, could not recommend this highly enough.
