We stayed at Talog Country Retreat at the start of October with a few friends. Overall it was okay, the T&Cs were very extensive, and we felt like there were so many rules to obey. The hot tub didn't reach the desired temperature until the evening of our second day so we were not able to use it much... Even though it was a 'pet-friendly' lodge, and we had to pay £45.00 extra per dog for the stay, it didn't feel like it was, again, so many rules. The curry house, which was the only takeaway that delivers, was below our expectations too.
On the positives, easy to find, stunning views and a good night's sleep.
Stunning and clean cottage in a beautiful location which is nice and out of the way. Perfect for non city people or if you just need an escape from everything. It was bliss to look at the stars from the hot tub without any light pollution or cables ruining it. There’s a lovely little walk right on the doorstep too. I only met one of the hosts but he was more than helpful and very welcoming. You’re left to your own devices but they’re always on hand if need be. Would definitely recommend :)
Absolutely amazing place! There were milk, biscuits and a bottle of wine waiting in the cottage on arrival which was a lovely touch.
Nothing is too much for the hosts - extremely good communication and quick responses, both before and during our stay.
The views are stunning and although there’s 2 other cottages nearby, you never hear a peep from the neighbours so it feels very peaceful.
We’ve just booked our third trip which shows how much we love it here!
Amazing location, so tranquil. lovely clean modern well equipped accommodation. We stayed with 3 generations from 70 to 2 years old and with our dog. The owners were so welcoming, helpful and thoughtful. Couldn’t have done more. We will definitely be back and have told several friends about our little retreat!
I’ve just got back from my 3rd time visiting Talog Country Retreat and it is always a very pleasant experience. The hosts are great as always and me and my friends always return. It is located in the lovely countryside with stunning views looking over the fields. Great for sunsets as well as stargazing in the hot tub. We always look forward to returning.
The cottage was beautiful and peaceful, just as advertised. The host could not have done more to make us feel welcome and making our stay as comfortable as possible. Communication was excellent and we felt very well supported with all queries. The hot tub was lush!
The cabin had all amenities required. It was exceptionally clean, the hosts were absolutely friendly and helpful. Stunning views as well. However, the furniture on the patio wasn't Very comfortable. The hot tub was filthy!! Unfortunately I had to throw away my swimming costume afterwards, because no matter how many times I washed it I couldn't get that horrible smell from the hot tub out of it ????....also it caters for up to 8 ppl, but only has 2 bathrooms and one in in the master bedroom, meaning that either everyone else only has the one bathroom to use, or whoever is in the master bedroom will have to be disturbed whenever someone wants to use their bathroom! Even though we had a good time there, I don't think we'd be going back again
We recently stayed at Talog - shooting star and we were extremely impressed with the service and communication by the owners. The location is stunning and very relaxing. You can tell that a great deal of thought and care has gone into the interior design of the property with furniture that is beautifully modern. The location is extremely rural which means you will need a car to explore however the owners couldn't have been more helpful when arranging a takeaway on our first evening. The hot tub is an added bonus and is another example of no expense being spared on the luxuries at this property. The bedrooms and bedding were superb and extremely comfortable. It truly is a home from home and a location I would wholeheartedly recommend.
