You know exactly where I'm coming from when I say that when you find a decent Chinese you're committed for life. Swallow Cottage is mine. Not only is the food exactly as good as you expect it to be, the people there are so lovely it's a legit joy to step foot through the door. The woman who works there, in fact, is the only individual who has ever refused a tip from me: "No, no no - if you enjoy the food, you come back. That's enough." If you can name three places who've ever hit you with that I'll buy you a meal.
I live on a boat so I get around. But whether I'm just outside of Harborough or on the outskirts of Cov, unless I'm over an hour away I will go well out of my way to come here. Wonderful people.
Edit: for whatever it's worth I'm a chef by trade, so if I eat from the same place twice it's no small thing - but the Satay Chicken is to die for. You can take that to the bank.
First class always courteous food is always excellent and it was ready on time
Always had nothing but fantastic food. The odd time I have had to wait a little bit longer than I’d like, but apart from that it’s well worth the weight fantastic food, good prices, very friendly people
Well what a let Down placed my order by phone and was told it would be ready for 9pm had to wait until 9.45.
The curry had no taste to it the pork ribs and spring rolls was dry and over done most of it ended up in the bin.
Use to be the best take away in Harborough years ago under the last owners ping I'm not going there again.
Our favourite Chinese takeaway during the last 18 months, consistently good. Can have long (socially distanced) queue Friday or Saturday which gives you an idea of the quality. Always a friendly welcome.
The service is fabulous, really fast. The food is delicious, very flavoursome and a great selection of freshly cooked dishes. I don't order Chinese from anywhere else in Market Harborough
I think swallow cottage has changed ownership because they used to be easily the best in Harborough and consistent! Last visit was not good at all. Food tasted old and the prawn crackers were soft and nasty. Let down :(.
Will go elsewhere from now on.
There are no tables to sit and eat at here so watch out for the fake reviews mentioning getting a table. This is a take away.
The prices have been creaping up over the past year so we don't eat here as often as we used to; but the food is still excellent, the service fantastic. Always better to call ahead so you're not waiting.
