So scary those lads were in No Mans Land when photo was taken. When they emerged they were just yards from the German Line. I doubt any survived
A must see location to help appreciate the terrain in which so many paid the ultimate sacrifice when they left the trench to face a barrage of machine gun fire. Lest we forget.
While there, watch the footage on YouTube. That is a very powerful experience.
Difficult to find but worth the search. The lane to the left of the cemetery was actually a ww1 trench in 1916
