Comfortable, clean, lovely room. Bathroom was spacious, with a Jacuzzi shower. Self check-in made life easier as we didn't have to rush to get there on time.
This nice bed and breakfast is located at the southern perimeter of Fort Augustus, close to the A82. Sophia and Ian offer there nice rooms as part of their home. Although being a bit late, we had a warm welcome. Ian made some suggestions for having a dinner in Fort Augustus, and, honestly, you can trust him - very good taste. Sure you have to walk a bit from Suardal... or take a car. We probably would never have considered the recommended pub and had one of the best dinners on our trip through Scotland. The room was very clean as well as the large bathroom. The bed was large and the room was quiet. On the next morning, Sophia prepared a stunning breakfast, probably the widest choice at highest quality I've ever seen. This, including the discussion with other guests and the hosts, was a wonderful start into a new day. Thanks for that amazing stay.
We were very impressed with this beautiful B&B. ||Sofia and Ian made us very welcome. The house is stunning and the rooms were very comfortable. We had the use of our own private Bathroom which had a wonderful Jacuzzi. Very Luxourious and relaxing after a day of travelling and walking. ||Sofia provides an outstanding Breakfast. Not the traditional full Scottish, but a more continental style, but with extra special touches, such as Freshly squeezed orange juice (I could tell the difference.) Freshly made fruit salad, cold meats, cheeses, toast and warm croissants. However the highlight for me was the homemade Apple and cinnamon cake. Highly recommend this lovely B&B. You won't be disappointed.
We stopped here for 4 nights to explore the Scottish Highlands, excellently located to be able to do so. Sophia and Ian were absolutely wonderful and could not do enough for us. Our room was incredibly spacious, had a lovely view and very generous bathroom. Breakfast every morning was incredibly plentiful with pretty much everything you could want. We’d definitely give you 6 stars if we could!
The property itself is a lovely large house that's cleaned and tidy. Little disappointed there is no ,TV or ensuite bathroom however the room was clean and cared for.
Fort Augustus is a quite little village with the Caledonia canal passing through the middle.
Nice Scottish break for anyone not too concerned on walking 10-15mins to get to the locks center.
Bathroom did have a excellent shower and a jacuzzi bath.
It's more of a self service place so not much interaction with host unless required IE phone charger seems a nice lady.
Breakfast not yet had but look forward to it..... Only reason for 4 stars over 5 is ensuite and room facilities kettle with no tap in room and not enough teabags and milk enough for 1 hot drink in a stay.
For me, the title B&B conjures up images of places with a reception desk, probably a terrace style building, limited parking and at times, the decor is a little past its prime. I know there are plenty of exceptions to my image but at the core, this is how I see the word "B&B". Simply put, Suardal is not a B&B, it is a home.||||The house itself is about 2 minutes drive from the centre of Fort Augustus in a quiet location and is of modern design with plenty of parking on the drive. We were greeted with a warm smile from Sophia who let us in and showed us around. We booked all three double rooms for one night. ||||Sophia's taste in decor is similar to mine and I found myself admiring several pieces of furniture thinking that she would not notice if I packed them into the car as we left. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor and has an ensuite. The other two are upstairs. ||||They have set aside a large living room area specifically for guests to relax, with plush leather sofas, TV, etc which is separate to them. The condition of the home is immaculate and the attention to detail is high. Each room has a different style and all the bathrooms are very modern, spacious and sparkling clean. The home has underfloor heating throughout which is lovely on those cold, damp Scottish days.||||One of the rooms upstairs has a jacuzzi bath and a large shower, the other is a large room with a balcony overlooking their back garden and has a large jacuzzi shower system with plenty of water jets to play with! Beds are large and with mattresses that feel brand new and very comfortable.||||Sophia had breakfast ready for us around 8.15 ish. She offers a continental style with plenty of choices. Again the attention to detail was not lost on me and I noticed all the little things like the ribbon on the cutlery holders, the different types of crockery, the serving dishes and the linen along with the presentation of the food. ||||Sophia and Ian are an interesting couple and I would have loved more time to get to know them better. I did read the reviews on this place before I booked and noted, in particular, the one highlighting the 6-star rating. I too truly agree. Sophie and Ian go above and beyond in making all their guests comfortable and should I return to Fort Augustus, this is the only place I intend on staying.||||Notes: Fort Augustus is very small and if you have not booked places to eat for your evening meal you may not be able to eat at the ones you want. Sophia and Ian recommended The Lock Inn (right next to the locks), The Boathouse, and The Lovat. We tried the Lock Inn and that was fully booked along with The Lovat. We managed to get into the Boathouse by ringing and snapping up one of the last bookings for the night (see separate review). So be warned.||||Also, Ian advised us to use the old road (B862) to Inverness as it has better aerial views of Loch Ness and has less traffic than the A82 which is heavy with coaches naturally ferrying tourists back and forth. He was right and the sun even got out for a few good photos. Foyer's waterfall is also accessible from this road (B852).||||Sophia and Ian welcome anyone and I would particularly highlight they do welcome bikers too. I can think of nothing better than collapsing into a good night's sleep here after a hard 5-hour road trip on a bike and then waking up refreshed, ready to embrace these wonderful Scottish roads on two wheels.
A little way out of Fort Augustus, but could be walked in good weather. A large car park near the canal in the town with parking fees of 60p for up to 4 hrs! The house itself is a beautiful architect designed home, but the rooms are spacious and very clean, and guests have use of a sitting room. Breakfast is excellent and a welcome change to the "fry up" at most other places. Sophia is very friendly and welcoming and made us wish we were staying more than 2 nights.
Great, comfy and cosy place to stay during our visit to Loch Ness and Fort Augustus. The hosts were lovely and super helpful, and the place was easy to find with their instructions (Google Maps doesn't quite get it right!) Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Fort Augustus
