Great selection of beers! Never see Orchard Thieves anywhere but it’s an Irish favourite of mine! Good atmosphere and the manager Paul is an absolute gent! Highly recommend.
Lovely setting and beer ruined by the fact that they allow vaping. Might as well allow smoking as well. Keep all smoking and vaping outside.
I was driving through and came about this place which has such beautiful surroundings, so, my wife and I decided to stop and check it out before we moved on to Bath. The first thing I did was to enter the pub to register our car's registration number (5 minutes upon arrival), as the signs indicated. This information was everywhere & very hard to miss, so I used one of the tablet's (one is by the till & the other one is located on the right hand side by the snooker table) that was provided by the establishment.
Then we decided to have lunch here, the food wasn't anything special but just okay, perhaps it's because it was a weekday. We ate, played some snooker/pool and continued with our journey to Bath.
A week later I received a PCN notice charge, saying that I didn't register my car, and therefore had to pay a penalty of £60 (if I paid straight away) or £100 if I wanted to appeal. Obviously I'm appealing because I did exactly what was asked of me (they only have a phone number to contact them but after calling a few times today, I had to leave voice mail hopefully they will call me back). Due to all this horrible scenario I absolutely won't be returning to this place. I can say this stop was definitely a very expensive one, and what a horrible birthday lunch it turned out to be. It's not fair at all, and keep in mind this can happen to anyone as well, so always take a photo of your tablet as well as the actual confirmation message of your registration after using it. Can the pub help me with this? I have 6 day's to respond to my appeal.
Nice old pub but is a young person's pub
Had our wedding reception and evening party here. All I can say is wow, it was totally amazing from beginning to end. Fantastic venue beautifully presented and hosted impeccability. Cannot thank Paul and Sue enough for their hospitality and going way above what was expected.
Never been here before but on the scorching day we lucked out with it was a brilliant place to sit outside and sink a few cold ciders. Plenty to keep the kids happy and out of earshot too. Great sunny drinking spot. Only downer was most of the staff there seemed miserable with being at the bar unless they were serving their mates, but then so would I be when it was so nice out.
Family of 5 - 2 x Adult meals, 2 x Children's meals (inclu dessert) + 1 x side of chips for baby. 2 x Fruit shoot and 2 x Pepsi Max came in at £50, which I didn't think was too bad. The children has burger and fish fingers, which I think looked and tasted fantastic for a child's meal and was as simple as it needed to be for children, with a dessert too at £6.95 each. Then we had a lasagne, with some very nice garlic bread, and I had the Beef Stew, which tasted fine but was just a little too lukewarm by the time it arrived. I could have asked for it to be warmed up but I didn't want to be the only one not eating, so a little bit disappointed there. The staff however were great, happy to have a conversation and actually increased my visit to know that there's a friendly pub I can add to my list (just don't ask what happened at the New Year's party ????). I'd happily go the Stanshawes again, just think I might go for a drink and some pool/darts
We stopped off for a quick bite to eat, we were greeted by a lovely barmaid who made us feel very welcome, the pub itself is set in a lovely location, with a lovely garden which backs on to a lovely park for the children. Drinks are lovely, food was fantastic. Very happy customer.
thankyou
