Coop food store is the main store in East Tilbury, formerly Tilberrys. Stanford House itself was formerly Bata Hotel with penthouse for Thomas Bata, founder of Bata Shoes with community facilities may of which have now disappeared. The flat roof houses being a lasting memorial to Bata Shoes.
