It is beautiful beach and easy to visit.
We traveled by bus number 6 from Lerwick then transferred to number 7 (it is a van).
The beach is actually connected to the St Ninian’s Isles, but when we arrived the tide is high so we didn’t have a chance to cross to the isle. It is better to check the tide before and in my case the lowest tide is 5:30pm.
Absolutely stunning. Stopped by only because I overheard someone comment on it and I'm so pleased that we did.
It was spitting with rain when we arrived, but it cleared to a blue sky, There was so much to enjoy - gusty wind, large waves, birds, a seal, sand, stunning views. The nearby village of Bigton provides toilet facilities and a community run shop that sells hit drinks, etc.
Beautiful beach is very quiet, free parking and even caught a glimpse of a sea lion
Beautiful beach. Weather was bloody awful when I visited though!
Such a amazing place to unwind and relax
We walked over the sands onto the grass then walked right out to the trig point to get the best views
Walking right around the island was worth every step ❤️
What a place, so peaceful and serene. We watched Seals watching us. Dogs are water mad and they thoroughly enjoyed running into the sea on both side. Locals were friendly we stayed in our camper overnight beautiful sight to wake up to

Great spot for a swim. Not a lot of parking but so beautiful. A tombolo consisting of shell sand.
