To the owners - you should create a new google listing. You are carrying over the bad reviews from the previous management.
Review : my wife and I agreed that the flavours and freshness of the ingredients was exceptional. We really enjoyed our meal. Best we’ve had in Crowborough for sure and up there with the best we’ve had in this country. We will definitely be going back!
After reading such positive reviews, we were excited to try Mother India. We ordered at 19:25 and were told it would be 55 minutes. After phoning twice (once at 8.40pm (not to chase, just to check they’d received my order as I don’t it online) and then again at just after 9pm (to chase as I was told 20 minutes earlier my food was leaving any minute)) our food arrived just after 21:10 (we live 3 minutes from Mother India). Nobody made any effort to contact me about the delay, I had to phone and chase them. Once our food did arrive, the two curries we had ordered were cold (we did order a saag aloo however which was really hot and very nice). The peshwari naan was also cold and completely empty (not a single bit of coconut in it) and the curry we had ordered which states to be cooked with mango, had no mango in it (whenever I’ve had this curry elsewhere it has always had mango chunks in it, it may just be different at Mother India, but after everything else, I was really disappointed by this). We contacted Mother India on the evening and I asked to speak to a manager to issue a refund, yet 3 days on I am still waiting to hear from them and no refund has been provided. This was a Saturday night so I have no doubt at all they were busy and having read the other reviews I’m hopeful this was a one off but the overall experience was dreadful and we won’t be ordering from them again.
Great food at a good price.
The new owner personally delivered this evening and was very polite. Explained he was in business with the chef and I would not be disappointed with the food. He was correct!
Best Indian food I've had since moving to the area.
First order from Mother India since it changed management. Ordered at 5:30 with a delivery request of 6:40 and it arrived promptly, delivered by the manager himself who was friendly and courteous.
Food was deliciously spiced and the welcome popodums were greatfully received, along with the handwritten note with our order. Personal touches count for a lot. Good luck in your new venture, we will certainly reorder.

This is the second time this has happened to me.
This evening I ordered a takeaway through the website and requested it for an ASAP collection. Soonest being 15 minutes after placing the order. Upon arrival, the entire warehouse was in complete darkness and the shutter door was down. I got out and looked around but nothing. I was in the correct place as I’ve had takeaways from here in previous years/months. Was slightly frustrated but this has happened before. Just told myself to not order again or double check they are open.
Nearly an hour later, having gone to another Indian take away in Heathfield (absolutely gorgeous food), I received a phone call telling me my food was ready for collection. Quite confused, overall I responded with “but you were shut?”. Apparently they had all been out doing deliveries outside of the area, but the boss took the order anyway. Of course I apologies but explained I had got food elsewhere and I don’t live locally hence the collection. They offered to deliver but again I had brought food from elsewhere and live a long way away so it would be cold by the time of arrival.
As I was apologising again for just the second time for the inconvenience and mid sentence….
…..I had the phone put down on me.
Only advice would be to ring and make sure they really are open or are there on the premise. However this doesn’t seem a normal way to run a takeaway service. Whereas, at Heathfield, I was welcomed at the door with a smile.
And having a fairly unprofessional phone call wasn’t a winner for me.
We had a curry from Spice House tonight, under new management and it was delicious! The best curry I've had in Crowborough. Will definitely be using them from now on. Thank you!
Ordered a takeaway from Mother India for the first time in years and found it to be under new ownership. Quality much improved and food was very good. Will definitely be ordering again.
We tried Spice House after receiving a letter through the door about being under new management. The Special Tikka Mix Dansak was delicious! Great service and was ready on time. Piping hot and really tasty.
