Got yellow fever vaccines and malaria tablets for my family including our two young children and the staff member who dealt with us was amazing. She couldn't have been nicer. Really friendly, helpful and very understanding of the difficulties of giving vaccines to young kids. She dealt with the kids brilliantly and made the whole experience really easy.
They cost an arm and a leg but were still cheaper than other places we tried nearby so all in all I have to say it was a great experience and terrific service.
I went to buy some medicines today and the total cost was £2.50 I only had my card with me. The person at the till told me the minimum of transaction by card was £3 and she quickly pointed at the counter asking me to get something else to get to that amount.
I would like to remind the owner that it is illegal to ask for a minimum spending by card. I had my own business for 6 years and managed several places so I know that as a fact ( if anyone would like to know more one can quickly google it).
You would expect this sort of cheekiness from an off-licence (which they regularly do it to encourage sales or incentivate cash payment) but not from a Chemist.
Very helpful and polite staff. One item wasn't in stock but they sent me a text the following day to confirm that the item had arrived and was ready for collection. Their retail section is competitively priced too.
Update: The lead pharmacist just called to inquire about my review and we had a great conversation about the misunderstanding, our mutual read on the situation. I have to say, that is exceptional and quite rare. Thank you for doing that.
Original review: Generally speaking, it's an effectual pharmacy. Yet the lead pharmacist can be very short and unkind, which is just dismal in terms of care. These are patients coming in asking for advice and yet sometimes they're infantilised or treated like an idiot. An attitude adjustment of compassion would do this pharmacy well.
This is my honest opinion. Without wanting to rant, the young staff are trying hard but do not have the skills or competence. The manager seems to be under a tremendous strain and is snappy. I note Sefgrove's continuous advertisements on the door asking for new staff, there must be a huge turnover. I have been there twice in two weeks for a prescription and still they haven't received my medication. Imagine I was very ill, what then? They ask you to not abuse them (ever seen notices on a counter begging customers to not abuse them and leave negative reviews because they are always out of medication?! Rather sad). Sorry, this is just not a competent chemist.
Went to
Pick up my prescription on Saturday it wasn’t entirely there but the pharmacist was polite friendly and helpful in explaining the shortage in my medication which is important to me because I’m epileptic I was advised to contact them during the week for the rest of my medication I totally understand the stress they are under in fulfilling patients medication and hope they resolve mine soon me and my mother both use this pharmacy in fact my mum used to work there and her prescription is always on time and complete
Great local chemist. Lovely staff and Pharmacists who go out of their way to help you. There are a lot of supply issues with medication (my niece is a Pharmacist in the South West so I know it's tough for them having to say they can't get hold of certain things) but if there is an alternative Sefgrove have always suggested going back to my doctors to get a different prescription. In an ideal world they wouldn't have to do all of this which takes much more of their time, trying to source medications, alternatives and then explanations.
Sefgrove is doing an outstanding job and deserve your support & understanding, especially, as all the big foreign-owned pharmacies have just up and left as they realise the effort involved with supplies now.
Be kind (my niece is in tears most nights having to tell people she cannot help them - it's soul destroying).
In the UK, it is perfectly legal to set a minimum card payment. However, it is illegal to charge customers extra to cover the cost of your card processing fees, also known as “surcharging”.
To deter merchants from setting a minimum payment, card networks such as Visa and Mastercard have core rules in place. They will penalise you or suspend your account for setting a minimum card fee.
