Not sure what's going on with this place but there's more batter than fish these days.
My fish was encased in a glove of solid (crunchy batter) just not enought fish.
Fritter appeared to have been double fried. Tiny bit of tatty inside.
I hope this place can improve x
Nice & friendly , good food & reasonably priced . Would have been 5 stars but ordered Fritter on a Roll . Noticed Fritters were 60p each & Fritter Roll £1.50 , so thought you must get 2 fritters . Shocked when I got home (quite far away) to discover only 1 Fritter. Dearest Roll I have ever ate at 90p !!!
Rest of families order was good .
Tiny portions and very expensive for what you get. I could justify it if you were getting award winning fish n chips but the suppers we got were just ok; nothing special. My picture shown is the big standard supper - one modest fish and a tiny handful of (overly-greasy) chips. My wife got a small supper and it was literally an inch wide sliver of fish and tiny handful of chips. I've never seen anything like it in my life. Suppers were poorly wrapped, which isn't a problem if you like the same sauces etc as the other suppers you're getting.... not ideal if one of you isn't a fan of broon sauce while the other is. Non-grease proof paper too so all your chips stick to the wrapping. Pickled egg my wife got had an odd taste to it so it got left. Total cost of our food was nearly £12 and we ended up having to go back out to Tesco to get a second dinner in.
Oh dear oh dear. What's happened to this chip shop.
Just had take away and what a rip off. 4 burned fritters and an over cooked 1/2 smoked sausage £6:00 , Two small Sausages and a small amount of chips £6:70
On a positive note 2 Fish Suppers which were very nice but £9:70 each .
Doubt I will return. Used to be such good food and value for money.
Better customer service at bell street. Was wanting a few greasy chips in my mouth but cannae get that experience. That’s what I get for cheating on my local chippy.
Awesome. Used to always go here with my folks as a kid. It's been far too long since I've been in and the fish n chips were as good as I remember.
Staff are always friendly and everything is made super fresh.
Terrible. First time and will never go back. Fish, overcooked and the batter burnt. Fritters, didn't find any potato, or if here was any it must have been cut with a razor, just burnt batter and half my order was missing although I was charged for it. Just don't waste your money going there
Great chip shop, only one improvement would be could do with bigger portion sizes. Had fish suppers twice over last 2 weeks and really good food, but definitely smaller portions served now compared to a year ago.
