Nested along the Mersea shoreline, this charming seaside restaurant is a culinary gem! Offering a relaxing atmosphere. The menu, not only cost effective but packed with fresh, locally sourced food! I enjoyed every minute at seafood at dawn, whilst savouring the delicious tapas dishes.
Service was attentive and prompt, packed with smiles from the team. A great ambiance! Whether you choose inside or garden seating, the temperature was warm and comfortable.
I recommend booking in advance due to the high demand!
In summary, a delightful experience, must-visit for anyone seeking delicious food and a true taste of seaside living! After dining, you’re able to take a walk along the beach, a beautiful family day out!
We booked to visit Seafood at Dawn for lunch. The wheelchair access was good, and they placed us near the entrance to make life easier.
The service was quick and friendly. They had lots of lovely dishes to choose from at reasonable prices.
For starter, I had calamari followed by scallops in garlic for main. Both dishes were cooked to perfection.
We treated ourselves to dessert, and I had sticky toffee pudding with custard. Again, well cooked and presented.
It was a fantastic experience and will certainly return in the future.
Visited seafood at dawn for the first time today and thoroughly enjoyed it. The premises is located near the sea front and the interior is nicely decorated, warm and comfortable. The staff were very pleasant and friendly and service was prompt. We had a selection of 5 tapas which was around £22 and we also had the loaded seafood chips which were excellent at around £7.50 and a crab salad around £11. Prices on the menu are very reasonable in comparison with other establishments in the area. My only criticism is in relation to the calamari tapas. You only get 3 small pieces of calamari which was disappointing and I would have liked to see bigger pieces as the ones we got were lost in the bowel. Also the crab salad lacked imagination in terms of the salad quantity. The salad only consisted of a couple of lettuce leaves and maybe 2 cherry tomatoes and for the money I felt it should have had a better salad with the crab (see picture). Apart from that we will definitely return to try other dishes.
Seafood; either shellfish or cooked fish is suprisingly hard to get right. This place excels at that difficult art. Food is fresh, varied, delicious and plentiful. Add on top the responsive, polite staff, nice atmosphere and ability to eat in or out depending on the weather and you are certain to enjoy your visit.
Well done all round, you have gained another regular customer to add to the many I'm sure you have already.
(One tip for visiters: the herring starter is enough for two!)

My favourite spot on Mersea now! The choice on the menu is awesome, actually making it hard to choose. I recommend everyone ordering something different and sharing. The seafood platters are huge and super tasty, a great one to share. Plus the loaded fries are surprisingly good and a great portion - never heard of this on a seafood menu before. Love the decor and ambience, and the owner is super genuine and passionate about what she does.
I recommend booking ahead so you’re not disappointed!!

Came here mid week for lunch with my husband, very easy to find and the service was brilliant.
The menu and specials were explained well and really good prices.
We ordered the hot and cold platters at £15 each, the lady who served us said it was a good portion as we were debating whether to get starters/nibbles, and she wasn’t wrong! The platters were huge but very high quality, drink choices were good as well and we even made room for dessert

We always loved the original East Mersea restaurant, but the new location is bigger and even better! Love what Paige and the team have done here and the food is as incredible as ever. The menu has been improved even further, the service is second to none and it's all great value for money.

Came here. Short notice for Mother’s Day was fitted in. We had the most wonderful meal fantastic staff, fantastic service, My daughter and Partner had starters he had the scallops and she had the prawns which were delicious. My daughter had the crab salad. I had the seafood linguine and he had muscles Which we all had to try of each other’s only downside was so full up, but we couldn’t eat another thing So we had to take our cheesecake home with us, which was absolutely delicious.
The atmosphere the interior decoration in there just really really nice, fantastic place can’t wait to come back. thank you To all the staff there. Good job fantastic…
