Young man called Jay took my blood yesterday. What a professional and kind person. He was sympathetic about my needle-nerves and did it brilliantly. I didn't feel the needle at all. I would happily have my blood taken here again by such an efficient team. They show the side of the NHS we should be so proud of.
Always very impressed when I've had to go for myself or my boys. Sometimes you may have to wait a couple of hours. But that's cool. Staff are always friendly and once they see you it's in and out quickly.
Despite being referred by 111, nurses were dismissive of the problem and didn't make me feel cared about. Dismissive about worries, and gave advice and information contradicting what is written on the NHS website. Wait times are long. Receptionist was nice which was the only good thing about going here.
This Urgent Treatment Centre (previously "Walk-in Clinic") has friendly staff, but the wait can be long especially when they are busy. For walk-in injuries and out-of-hours medical assistance, they use a triage system where you speak to a nurse first who assesses you to see if another clinic is better for you. The blood testing/phlebotomy clinic is currently by appointment only.
Scheduled a same-day appointment through 111 for urgent care, but upon arrival, the nurse seemed unaware of my reason for being there, despite providing detailed information during the phone call. After a temperature check, I've been waiting for over 3 hours from my original appointment time, with none of the initial group present. No pain medication or information on wait times was offered. Attempted to explore private GP options due to dissatisfaction, but availability on a Sunday ia pretty tricky.
(Genuinly questioning the value of NHS contributions when it appears I'm not receiving adequate care or treatment)
I went to the Audiology department at the hospital in December 2023 which I would like to say that i was very disappointed with the hospital.
I was shown to 3 different places/departments before I was eventually at the place I needed to be.
When I got to the department I needed to be at I was faced with no one at the reception desk which I thought was absolutely disgusting as I spoke with a few patients that was waiting to be seen at the desk as well as myself which myslef and them had to wait 10 minutes for a person to see us to check us in.
My appointment was running 10 minutes late which was not great as I had other ingadgements I had to attend after my appointment.
The appointment itself was very rushed as it only lasted 20 minutes instead of 30 minutes as advertised on my letter I received from the NHS trust involved with the Royal Victoria Hospital.
I do give the credit with regards to having a water machine in the waiting area as that was much appreciated however the hospital is run down with limited funding which has resulted in an old building that needs funding to modernise it like for example at the Buckland Hospital In Dover as I had a much better experience at that hospital than I did at the Royal Victoria Hospital.
Overall I would not attend any further appointments at this hospital due to my experience.
Honestly there are multiple occasions where we would have been lost without this place. The staff are lovely throughout, they really care about your health. They have been invaluable to the care of both myself and my child when my own gp is under too much strain. They have even examined me and sent notes to my own gp in order for me to get around not being able to get an appointment, so my gp can just act on a recommended referral. It's not an exaggeration to say that without the royal vic there are times I would have been without critical healthcare entirely due to a lack of appointments and communication with my own gp. And I am so grateful to be able to say that I have always left the royal vic feeling unjudged and listened to.
Not a place you enjoy going to..... How ever when I have been here the nurses are kind and helped me with what ever my issue was going through!
One time I needed a suppository for intense back pain and the female nurse popped it in for me as I just didn't like the idea of doing it for myself as that's just wrong!
