Over 20 years I've been a member of this practice, moving from Dunluce to Dunmurray after I finished being a student. I've sometimes experienced grumpy nurses, impatient receptionists and cold/rude doctors but this is mostly unusual (and understandable). Also, the decor in the Dunmurray branch could do with a refresh; the same broken(?) stereo has been mounted on the wall for years!
However, most of the time the receptionists, nurses and doctors are pleasant and very helpful. Most importantly, I can always get an appointment when needed within a reasonable time and have experienced sympathic receptionists who have expedited my appointment when I'm suffering. I therefore feel very lucky, especially when I hear the reports of other surgeries, that I'm a member of the Rowan Tree Practice. So thanks to all nurses (even the grumpy ones), doctors, receptionists and management for your service over the years.
I have been a patient in this practice for almost 6 years. During this time I had a life threatening illness and needed a lot of support afterwards. I was always able to speak to a Dr and when necessary get a face to face appointment. The Drs never rush you or hurry you and are very thorough in their assesments. The receptionists are all very friendly and professional. Diane, the nurse is also very professional although she seems to handle a heavy
workload . For those complaining about having to wait to get through, you should read the reviews on some of the other practices. Yes, it would be nice to have the surgery open everyday. I agree.
We have had nothing but good service from this practice. The pandemic has changed procedures but I've never had to wait too long to get through on the phone, I've always got to speak to a doctor and have been asked to come in if the doctor felt that would be advisable. Receptionists, nurse and doctors are pleasant and friendly despite being under pressure, parking is good, pharmacy next door. Great!
What these other people expect of a practice coping with and coming out of a pandemic, I do not know. Reception staff are always pleasant to deal with. I haven't seen my own GP in 18months but that is down to workload volume and not want of effort or professionalism. We are fortunate compared to the rest of the world in the care we receive. Pots and pans are temporary apparently.
My grandmother is about to go through an operation and would like to sit down with her gp to have a chat to go over all the risks, benefits etc. Can I get an appointment here? NO. I must call at 8.30am to get seen. Why. Its not an emergency appointment. There ain't no symptoms. But nope. They don't care. So they got a phone call arranged. That's it. A big operation for an 86 Yr old woman. And they can't even take the time to see her face to face. Disgusting practice if your actually sick or needing help. Also name and shame time. The nurse Diane is the most unprofessional and rude nurse ever.
This is a practice where GPs appear unwilling to help patients who are going through the Pip process by refusing to provide medical evidence to the assessors. If patients cannot rely on GPs to assist them in this matter what hope do they have of getting through this process which is stressful enough without this added difficulty! Also practice now closed 2 afternoons a week (Wednesdays and Fridays). During one recent week closed 3 afternoons in a row to facilitate staff training on Thurs. Any reason why this cannot be done after hours? Difficult enough trying to get a doctors appointment these days without a GPs surgery being closed 3 afternoons in a row. Beginning to think that maybe place is going to close down! Also during one appointment with practice nurse she asked me if I got the flu vaccine. When I said no (the practice manager previously refused to let me have it) she then proceeded to say "Well you are probably better not getting it. You don't know what they're injecting into you". To say I was shocked at her attitude is an understatement! How this 'nurse' manages to keep her job is beyond my understanding!
This used to be a fantastic Practice. Now, it is virtually impossible to get seen by a Doctor as reception staff insist on getting a Doctor to phone patients before offering an appointment. How can something like an unexplained allergic rash be diagnosed over the phone? The complaints procedure is not worth the paper it is written on. They promise an acknowledgement in 3 working days and a response in 10. I complained in writing (via email as per procedure) 16 days ago and have not received a word back. Totally pathetic service from what used to be a superb surgery.
Joined a couple of weeks ago found IT TO BE VERY VERY VERY helpful THEIR STAFF ARE lovely and helpful & to get appointment with doctor about 10days if not sooner last place I WAS IN 1st doctor's not seeing their patients unless NEAR dead BUT even when THEY WERE working 3 MONTHS if lucky to get appointment so this practice is fantastic to know one could get appointment when one is sick not 3 months LATER when well again!YES THE doctor I SAW WAS VERY VERY VERY helpful it will take a couple of meeting till he gets to know me AND I him but 1ST TIME he in MY OWN opinion was VERY VERY VERY FAIR & KNOWS HIS job I liked him straight away as i LIKE doctor's WHO LOOK after THEIR PATIENTS i THINK i won't be leaving THIS practice EVER LIKE IT a lot and only BEEN in it a couple of times but all the STAFF WERE FANTASTIC 100 STAR'S
