Almost always busy , and in summer expect a queue for the fabulous Ripley ice cream (some solid flavours to select from). Best of all your in the heart of valley gardens and and explore with the kids. If it’s raining there’s some cover to shelter … in winter pop in for a hot drink. This really is one of the gray places to refuel while mooching around.
My friend and I have enjoyed a cup of tea here in the past but unfortunately today (24th March) our decaf tea let it down. Our drinks could only be described as weak, tea-flavoured scalding hot water. The cost was £3, the price for a 'speciality' tea to go I believe, so I think decaf tea here is considered a 'speciality' tea (unless it was just a charging error). I don't know what went wrong today, perhaps our tea had been made by dunking one tea bag into two cardboard cups of hot water ... whoever was in charge of decaf tea-making today could do with retraining. We would have returned to the cafe to give feedback personally but we had walked quite a way before the drink had cooled down enough to take a sip and only then did we find it wasn't up to the standard it should have been, very disappointing and poor value for money. We dumped the drinks into the first bin we came to.
This place is a little Gem. We stayed in Harrogate for a couple of nights and we decided to go for a walk through the park where you can find this beautiful little place. We popped in for a couple of freshly made ham sandwiches and a couple of coffees to take out and while we were waiting for them I told the gentleman serving that the last time I came here I bought a tub of Rum and Raisan Ice Cream and it is by far the nicest ice cream I have tasted, the nice gentleman went and got me a tub and gave it to me for free. If you are in Harrogate and have time to kill you can not go wrong with going to the park and popping into this place. People are so nice and the sandwiches we ate were so nice and soft.
Taking a break from our walk here, enjoying ice cream while doing people watching and absorbing calmness of the gardens
Friendly service and great tasting ice cream. Shame they don't seem to do the special flavoured soft serve like their Ripley counterparts but the vanilla is delicious all the same.
Update June 2022: Still great tasting ice cream, with lovely staff. Massive queue today goes to show how popular it is. Still a shame they don't do flavoured soft serve like the shop's Ripley based older sibling.
Ice cream is good. Location is great. Staff are awful.
This quaint coffee in the valley gardens in Harrogate is a wonderful place to get a fantastic coffee and watch the world go by. It has limited seating I side but there are tables outside or just get a drink and snack to go and enjoy the park. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Avoid a all cost. Lovely facility in nice park. We arrive at 3.45pm to a cafe supposed to close at 4.30pm. The inside was closed with chairs on tables. Staff had refuse another couple at 3.30 as they wished to clear up. We purchase 4 cups of tea and were then told we could not even sit outside where there were tables available but the benches removed. Were were told we could go and sit anywhere else in the park. Other customers were horrified by how we were spoken to. Truly dreadful.
