They have the traditional welsh dish - lamb cawl. It was pretty good. The red cow burger is HUGE. so if you are famished, that's the one for you. It's fresh and yummy. Could do with more vegetables but it's just me being a vegetable type person.
There are many different types of beer. Love that there are local ales for us to try.
Where do you start?
I hade to ware sun glasses when I entered the bar as the smiles on each of the staff were radiating so much. Very nice to see.
Regarding the food, it's had to go wrong with beef lasagne but it's very hard to go the other way. And boy oh boy, it was very nice. Also it's very appreciated to actually see "real" chips.
My wife's hunters chicken was double up with tons of sauce.
So the question of: was it worth the long road; yes it is. Go there and enjoy.
Side note; the beer is front a local source and very nice as well.
Really friendly staff. Very helpful very friendly. Food was superb and the roaring fire was lovely. Great pint of Guiness too. Plus England won and the 80's backing track was a real bonus(I'm bias though as I love the 80's)
Food was amazing, staff helpful. Lovely place to come for lunch. Would highly recommend x
Lovely, cosy pub , great food and friendly staff
Dog friendly too which is a bonus for us
Real chips!! Yummy !
We had hunters chicken and a steak & ale pie...both absolutely delicious.
Would definitely come here again ????
Great place to start your hike! I had the Burger. Big, filling meal. Very reasonably priced. The lad behind the bar was very hospitable. I enjoyed my time!
Been coming here with family and friends for years. In a general rule, the Gammon and Steak are very good. However, the crown and glory is the superb chips. I have never had such good chips before. They are gorgeous. The staff are always lovely and friendly. However, the same cannot be said about the owner. My partner and I attended the Red Cow on Monday. The car park was very busy, yet we saw a space at the top of the car park. There was a plastic box halfway in the space. We thought the box had fallen over from a pile of trash that was next to the fence, so my partner moved the boxes and we used the space. When we finished our meal we came out to find a huge white BMW had parked right behind our car. I went into the pub and asked if it was anybody in there, to no avail. I came outside and asked a man next to the car if it was his car to which he agreed. His demeanour was surly, rude, and unfriendly. He informed me that it was his space and I was not to be parked there. I apologised, informing him that I didn’t realise it was not for public parking. He couldn’t have cared less. I asked him if he could reverse his car so I could get out. He reversed as little as humanly possible, so I found it difficult to navigate out. I eventually managed to squeeze out, but was left feeling pretty disgusted at the manner in which I had been treated so poorly by the owner. My partner and I will not be returning to this establishment. We will take our business elsewhere.
Lovely meal, I had the Red Cow burger stack and it was delicious. Dog friendly so my dog was allowed in the bar. We sat next to the open fire after a dreary wet day of walking to warm up. Will definitely return again.
