We could not find anything in Portree because we had not booked in advance. All of a sudden we found this guest house without "no vacancies"-shield. We were happy to get a room. That was the prettiest b&b-room we have seen. Everithing very cute in tartan, cozy and comfortable. The continetal breakfast was great snd the landlady very welcoming.
A very big thank you for your outstanding service throughout our stay there, we are eternally greatfull , since we arrived you both did the utmost and went that extra mile, also for paying such precise attention to our needs making our stay an unforgetable one Thank you ❤️????????????????????????????????????. . a huge thank you to both. Breakfasts were amazing lots of selection and todays breakfast exceptional again thanks the room, facilities and accessability was expceptional too.XX
We were highly pleased with this lovely guest house, one of the best we've ever encountered on our travels in the UK & Ireland. Clean as a whistle, beautiful bed linens on comfortable beds, nice amenities such as: spacious desk for working, plenty of lighting, TV in good working order & easy to view from the beds, good hot shower, shampoo/soap/lotion provided, thick good quality towels, coffee/tea/hot chocolate plus some goodies in the room, small fridge in the room, closet for hanging clothes, hair dryer right next to the mirror. A lovely, comfortable lounge was provided for guest use at any time. Pleasant dining room & excellent breakfast with lots of choices. A variety of fresh fruits & juices, several breads, several cereals, several meats, warm hard-boiled eggs cooked exactly right. Fresh hot coffee & tea. Excellent & attentive service. Our hostess Christine was warm & friendly, very interested in all her guests & their plans. Being a native islander, she was able to give us good advice about where to eat dinner & sights to see on the island. Her husband Hugh was friendly & welcoming, too. BnB is an easy walk into the town center & plenty of free parking behind the house (helpful as parking is hard to find in town). Wifi signal was strong at all times & easy to access. Those who have left less than 5 star reviews on this BnB are mighty picky & hard to please!! We were here Sept. 13 & 14, 2018. BnB was full or nearly so both nights we were here & the other guests seem to enjoy the place as much as we did.
Good location for surrounding attractions and link to the town. Good spacious room. Poor breakfast in comparison to other 5 B&Bs we stayed in, scrambled egg wasn't tasty at all! Breakfast window was half hour which was way too short - always rushing in the morning, all the others had a minimum of an hour. Not worth the rate we paid!
My friends and I stayed here for one night on our way to Lewis in order to catch the ferry in the morning. We had a room with 2 twins. It came with shampoo, lotion, and other female bathroom products. Additionally, there was a hairdryer provided in room as well.||As for food, the room came with tea, coffee, biscuits, and chocolates which was a nice touch! In the morning there was as continental breakfast and included cereal, fruit, oatmeal, muffins, meat, and hard boiled eggs/toast. It was a great deal and we loved every minute of it!
It’s like going back to the sixties. The elderly lady who runs it is very kind but strict. Continental breakfast is served for just half an hour but is adequate. Sufficient parking space and a short walk to town. Bathroom seems like the only room ever renovated. Everything was spotlessly clean though.
We were two families booking 4 rooms, making up a party of 8, looking to have a relaxing weekend. Oh, how disappointed we were with our choice of accommodation.||||Our host, Christine was unfriendly and unwelcoming. On arrival, when asked how we would be paying, as we started to reply she told us she only took cash. Suddenly on a bank holiday weekend on Skye we were to find £640 cash. We managed to withdraw the cash. When paying on the Sunday morning I suggested that it would have been helpful to have been told in the booking confirmation email that she only took cash, she rudely said I should have asked! We had to ask 3 times before a receipt was grudgingly handed over.||||We were aware from the website that only continental breakfast is offered and is served from 8-8:30. Don’t think for a minute this is negotiable, even on a bank holiday weekend. Instead she told us she would only serve us breakfast from 7:30 until 8am. One of her excuses was “staff”. We said that we would be very happy to just help ourselves to some cereal if that helped her. She took offense at this suggestion. So, we declined breakfast on both mornings because of the unreasonableness of the time slot.|| ||Check out is 9:30am (not mentioned on website) and you better be ready to vacate as she was standing in the hall at 9:30 on the dot! There was no apology for the change to advertised breakfast times or offer of a small discount as none of us had had breakfast either morning.||The rooms are an adequate size but dated in their furnishings. The walls are thin. In one of the bedrooms the bathroom sliding-door was ill-fitting so anyone sitting on the loo was visible from the bedroom. Awkward for two young adults sharing a room.||||Despite the 4-star rating on the street sign, we have since discovered that she is not registered with Visit Scotland, so we are not sure who awarded the stars.||||In conversations we did have with her she mentioned a few times that she has been running a B and B for 40 years. I would say: “It’s time to give up”! She clearly has no idea about customer service. We were made to feel like we were an inconvenience to her and her business. ||||Oh, and if you are looking for somewhere to go for a friendly, delicious breakfast then we recommend Café Ariba. Great coffee too and lovely views over the harbour.
The room is not big, but enough. The mattress for the Double bed room is terrible, very bad quality.||||The owner is very unpleasant causing stresful situations all the time:||||We arrived at 10 am in the morning and she asked for the money in advance.||||Breakfast is at 8 am, only at this time, not before, not later. She is reminding you all the time this...||||You must leave the room latest at 9:30 am. She knock the doors 20 minutes before to remind you that you have yo go. ||||When we arrived in the evening, she had changed our baggage to another room because other customer wanted 2 single beds... She decided to make the change before we arrived in the evening.||||Breakfast, at exactly 8 am, is not bad but everything is cold.||||||Everything is clean but price is not reasonable for this service||||I would recommend other B & B with more pleasant owners, as we found in the rest of our trip.||||Avoid this B & B if you can ...
