The surrounding area is wonderful, especially Putney side. Wandsworth park is very near to it, can get a nice river view by walking around.

Scenic views from the bridge. Easy access to walking paths along Thames. Active bridge with lots of traffic. Even has bus stops on the actual bridge. Pleasant walk north into Fulham for Putney Bridge tube station.

Beautiful bridge just above the river. There is a nice walking area on the side of river along with a park beside. You can see the train passing from bridge next to putney bridge. The scenarion is marvelous.
Nice place to as there is a close park to visit. The Fulham Palace is one of the interesting place to explore. Nice river view to sit down and to relax.

Since the second half of the 19th century, Putney has been a significant centre for rowing.
The bridge was the starting point for The Boat race from 1845 until the new iron aqueduct was built just upstream in 1856, after which this became the starting point.
The competitors are currently 32 men of the universities of Oxford and Cambridge with two crews of first and second eights. Women's eights competed in an equivalent race for the first time in 2015, having since 1927 competed a shorter varsity race in Henley also in the early spring.
