It took us a moment to find the actual place to park. We almost ended up in a quarry due to the closed signs on the actual location.
The carpark is open early for hikers. the waterfall opens at 10 a.m. tickets can be purchased in the hotel beside the carpark. Public toilets are also accessible.
This has to be the best waterfall I have seen so far in England. The walk leading up to it is also breathtaking.
Definitely recommend to stay atleast 2 hours for this place
The waterfall its self is a wonder to watch. Being charged 2 pound per person plus 3 pound for 3 hours parking was not. Living in Scotland we are treated to a plethora of waterfalls. Which I have yet to be charged to see. I understand that it has a nice path to walk down and some very slippy steep steps to walk back, however the fact that there is a hotel/pub/restaurant and a expensive food concession hut, should more than pay for its up keep. I have seen remarks from a few websites that state that parking covers the cost of waterfall, from a few years ago, which suggest the fee is a new cost. Not something I would pay for it it was not a group activity. Also 15 for 5 drinks of hot colored sweet water which took ages to make was really a rip off. Not a place I would visit again. But if your OK with the charges the waterfall was wonderful, but not something that cannot be seen in scotland for free.
I got a ticket despite paying for parking (just not quickly enough). Cynical tourist trap. Landowners should be ashamed. Beware!
Good place to visit and a amazing waterfall and good walks
Paid, parked & left.
Then the fun started ! £140 fine for apparently putting our reg in wrongly.
Civil Enforcement Ltd who operate the car park are criminals & will scam anyone they can. This time it was us.
The ‘ombudsman’ POPLA who appear to be part of the company that operate the car park accepted we’d paid (as it showed on bank statement) but judged we’d contravened the terms & conditions of Civil Enforcement Ltd, by inputting our reg wrongly (allegedly).
Run out of options & now going to pay £140 for doing nothing wrong !
C11NTS !!!!
Great walk there
Car park appears to be owned by hotel which owns high force waterfall..however operated by someone else.
Pay machine confusing and very slow and no card reception.
OK picnic tables at back of car park and view one way.
This car park is nearest to high force and gentle20min stroll to fall..and uphill part of way on return
Carpark is fine however £3 for 3 hours. Then on top its £2.50 per person for a 10 minute walk to the waterfall, fenced off around a fairly small area then 10 minute walk back to carpark up steep slippery steps. Don't do it. Beautiful waterfall (but can be seen for free from different angles at different entrances)
