Best KPortal Reviews

Ate here a week ago with a group of friends. Great atmosphere, loved the new decor.
The food was great I had the mushroom risotto which was cooked to perfection. It was perfectly complemented by the pecorino wine which was a great recommendation. The portions are generous I ran out of room for desert. I will definitely be returning and trying the desserts next time.
Fantastic restaurant tucked away in Hatch End. It's very spacious with seating for more than 100 people. 30 of us went for dinner after work.
The staff were fantastic taking care of all of us very well. The food was excellent and everyone was very happy. The garlic mushrooms were my favourite.
There is plenty of options and some of which are very healthy as well. Vegetarian options were good as well as some of our group was vegetarian.
Would definitely visit again with friends and family.
4 of us went on Saturday night for the first(and last) time. Agree with other critical reviews. Vastly better when it was Fellini. Food portions small. Not good value. (Spaghetti in tomato sauce at £10-50 for mains looked like it was from a tin.I had Veal Milanese with spaghetti @£17.95 chewy etc etc) Could write loads more but i hope you get the idea. Dona Theresa (and anywhere else) so much better!
Once this was Felini. It had a great menu and good service with an.option of a price fixe menu at a reasonable price. We had wanted to go to the Dona Theresa but they had a private party. We have always been very happy with the Dona Theresa the food is excellent and the pricing is very affordable.. My mother took 4 of us to Porto grande for a special lunch. The restaurant was almost empty on a Saturday lunch time. Our food was mediocre to poor, over priced and the service was so-so. My poor mother got stuck with a £130 bill and we had no drinks. Will never go there. again. If they keep this up they will go out of business.
Sadly under the new ownership this restaurant has gone down below acceptable standards. My family and I have frequented Fellini's as it was formally known for over 20 years. It has always been our restaurant of choice. But now it has lost ambience and with it our custom. We will not be returning and I am sure many former customers will be doing the same. If this lasts a year under these new owners I will be very surprised. Such a shame ! Another restaurant gone !
We went to our Ola Fellini restaurant last night - only to find Fellini there no more. Needless to say we were
disappointed but decided to give the newly designed
restaurant in its place (Porta Grande) a chance.
What a transformation - the new restaurant has a slick bar with a great cocktail menu (they even have happy hour between 5 - 7 but of course we missed that!). There was tasteful light instrumental music playing in the background. Though they have overdone it with their ceiling lights but everyone is allowed one mistake. I was trying to find faults all evening but I was pleasantly surprised.
The new young owners are there to greet you and talk to you. They recommended dishes and wine to us
throughout the evening. Loved our red wine with the meal (it was EI something maybe Masera)
The dishes are excellent - even the wrong spicy chips (we got cheesy chips instead) were delicious. My penne arrabiata was actually spicy, just the way I like it though I was given a tray of extra Spices (dried chilli flakes, various chilli sauces etc) but were not required. My husband ordered the pizza and that was beautifully cooked with not a spot of soggy underside anywhere. My children ordered the fish and the festive turkey meal and they seemed to have loved it. Surprise, they even liked the vegetables that came with it cos all those finished too!!
The desserts and coffee were great too - between us we had the sticky toffee pudding, fudge cake, pear tart, tiramisu and profiteroles! My only disappointment there was that we only got 2 profiteroles in a portion (I'm used to getting 3).
Overall a great evening, we were the last ones out and
even then the staff didn't hurry us. And oh yeah there are after eight chocolates and mints too with the bill - a perfect end, yay!
Needless to say we are definitely going there again!
Thank you new owners.
(just forgot to tell you that whilst we were there, the owners of nearby restaurants dropped in for a drink and quick bite at various points through my evening there. Now, that has to be a good sign for the newly transformed Porta Grande)
Went there six adults and three children. Went in the day before to book a table thought the guy was a bit short as if he's doing me a favour.lets move on I'm sure it will be better tomorrow. Was I wrong or What? Everything seemed too much of an effort with the waiters or sarcastic remarks. Asked for children's menu and chairs was abruptly told they have two chairs available as they don't cater for kids but more for elderly people. That probably explains why we felt unwelcome.foid is mediocre in my oppinion. My fish was overcooked and the other dishes were ok however the kids pizzas pro boy the best of the lot. Best part was they didn't charge for the kids strawberries but even though they charge service charge we decided to leave a tip anyway. Needless to say we won't be going back there until I become a pensioner which is many light years away. Enty other restaurants in the area which are more welcoming.
Went on valentines night. This was probably the worst dining experience ever. Dreadful. Have been to this place many times over many years when it was Fellini’s but since the new owners it is dreadful. Appalling menu on the night. Very little choice. When some diners were allowed an al a carte menu we asked if we could change and we were told we could by a waitress only to get some little fellow to tell us that the other diners had booked the al a carte menu six months ago. This new owner under this name has not been here six months. Work that one out! Should have left at that time. First course was inedible. Second course not much better. Didn’t stay for a dessert. Do yourself a favour. Pick a different diner as you will be disappointed here! Would not recommend this place to anyone but it is not possible to leave a minus five star rating!!!
