Plenty of parking spaces and right at the start of the path up Pen y Fan, toilets available. A coffee van would make it perfect, there may be one there on other days but not when we went, so make sure you take your own food and drinks.
Nice place for hiking with nice views. It’s a 1.5 hrs hike to the top. The place has toilet and baby changing facilities next to the parking. Parking costs like £7.50 for the day.
Would recommend to go with friends or family though it’s a bit difficult with toddlers/ infants as some places are slippery.
25.6.23 plenty of parking spaces. £7.50 pd at the machine via card. Also a warden came around issuing valid parking tickets using a mobile card reader for payment. - not sure if this a regular daily job or just a one off expecting a busy day?
New toilet facilities are open. Urinals & cubicles. Seated pit, no flush. Hand sanitizer within the cubicle, no wash facilities?
Route information and area advice could be had from a station at the foot of the mountin.
The walk up was great, i wore walking boots but loads wore trainers. Brought plenty of water in these warm weather conditions. At the top, breath-taking views, could see for miles ????. Everyone was respectful of there surroundings, awilling to take photos for strangers.
Fast food van in the carpark.
Perfect place to start the walk to Pen y Fan, plenty of parking albeit it was getting full round 11am so get there earlier. Toilets were pleasant enough but no water fountain which was a shame. Walk up was great, very very windy
Certainly much better than before with nice tarmac areas for parking, however, I still don’t think there’s enough parking to account for the busiest times. The toilets are MUCH better but there’s no plumbing so don’t expect running water. I was a little disappointed that - with all the money being spent here (plus £7.50 to park) - there’s no water fountain to fill up bottles. You can pay via an app on your phone which makes things easier, the machines are cash but they have an attendant where you can pay by card if the app won’t work for you.
Construction work undergoing at the minute.
Fresh tarmac has been laid and spaces are marked by white circles, rather than bay lines.
Parking is free, but was informed by local guide that a metre will be installed soon, whereby national trust members will be able to park for free and non-members will have to pay.
Several port-a-loos on site that were slightly grubby, but what do you expect?
Parking 7£ per car. Walking to top ~ 1 hour. We spend 2 hours for walk around.
At the base of Pen Y Fan. It’s always busy. We park at around 3 to 4am and it’s still busy people come and go and we always manage to get parking. There are several mobile
Cafes there all are good. Loos on site (useful) the gateway to PenYFan.
