Fast and kind service. I had chips with the hot curry sauce. It was delicious. I had a couple of questions as I have dietary restrictions and they answered them no problem. I will definitely use them again.
Amazing small fish & chips with mushy peas £5.50 can't beat that price. Big portion as well.
Only thing they are missing is a pot of garlic mayo but they don't sell it.
Great chippy, big portions, good prices but limited menu choice and cash only payments. Like stepping back in time 50yrs!
I try my best to support local businesses but places like this make it very difficult... I have given this chippy a few chances now, but each time my experience has been rather ruined by the incredibly dour-faced couple behind the counter. The woman in particular is staggeringly miserable; she may as well have spat in my face, to be honest. At first I thought it was because of my southern accent, but I get the impression that she's like this with everyone, at least to some extent. The bloke is a tiny bit less of a misery, but they both have faces like smacked arses.
As for the food, it's just about OK. The curry sauce is good. The portion sizes are usually OK but my "large" chips on my most recent visit was ridiculously small. The same can be said for my pickled onion, for which I paid 30p. It was about the size of a large marble. Most chippies would have put in two or three such onions if they're that small. I noticed many larger onions in the jar, so I almost feel like she did all this just to annoy me. Who knows? Bizarre woman. I wish I'd have checked before driving home.
It's cash only, but that's not a massive issue as there's a cashpoint about 30 seconds down the road outside Co-op.
This is such a friendly part of the world so it's truly strange that this place is so unwelcoming. If local businesses want to survive, the least they can do is not treat their customers like muck.
Best fish and chips we have had in years . Loved the hot curry sauce
Best chippy around!! We travel from Barrow to Askam to have our chippy tea. We only go to Pollys Plaice. We get fish, chips and Irish curry. The Irish curry is absolutely gorgeous its not like the usual chippy curry, to me it's sweeter and compliments the fish and chips so well. Both the fish and chips are the nicest we've ever tasted. Get yourselves to Pollys Plaice you will not be disappointed! ????
Great chips but portions sizes are small and it’s cash only
Great little fish n chip shop. Cash only but the post office offers cash withdrawals if open. Food delicious and very reasonably priced. Thumbs up!
