Came for Easter Sunday roast with my Mum and 2 littleuns. Has to be the best roast dinner we’ve ever had (and we have tried quite a few)! Massive portions, generous meat servings but everything was flavoursome and absolutely delicious. All different meat options, I chose the turkey and it was basically a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings! We were well looked after and all the servers were so lovely. Genuine pleasure coming here and we WILL be returning!
Just had lunch at The Pig and Abbot. This was the first time I'd been there. My elderly mother, who was in a wheelchair came with me, and we were very well looked after, and all the staff made us feel welcome. The food was excellent and very fresh, and the atmosphere of a very nice 17th century pub. It was a delightful time, and I will be returning.
My wife booked us in for Mother’s Day two to three weeks in advance. Initial service from the manager, Pat, was great until she decided we no longer had a booking and spoke extremely rudely to my other half - hanging up and promising to call back (she never did…). She suggested my wife had simply imagined the booking. This wasn’t the case and to put this on a customer is poor customer service. My family and I won’t ever be going thanks to her appalling treatment. No stars if I could.
If you want some really lovely food in a traditional public house then you will love The Pig and Abbot. The welcome is very warm and the service is excellent but the food is incredible. You do need to book but I cannot tell you how good the food really is. My wife said that the salmon that she had was probably the best salmon she has ever had and we eat out a fair amount. Personally, I love their pies, oh my god, there pies yum, yum!!! I love it when you have a selection of home made pies that are full of meat or chicken etc but are very filling, awesome.
What a find, food was lovely and reasonably priced with generous servings. Felt like à family run pub with a friendly atmosphere. Will definitely return here again! Looking forward to trying Sunday lunch. A big thank you to our waitress too.
A proper pub selling proper pub food- delicious and great value for money. The Pig is a beautiful old place with a great atmosphere. And is open on Mondays, which is welcome as so few are
We had our Christmas lunch with a dear old friend. The pub is settled in a beautiful rural hamlet. It's a cosy atmosphere and fire places, which were lightened, give real old pub vibes. The staff was very welcoming, helpful and we were very well looked after. We had exceptional beef and stilton pies with red cabbage, french beans, carrots and home made chips. Apple and blackberry tartlets with custard were full of Christmas flavour. We will be back very soon.
The food at the pub was very good. Very fresh and tasty. Well presented and generous portions. Will definitely go again !!
