Just a great family run restaurant offering an extensive food menu, decent portions and great prices.
Staff including/especially the owner were a delight. Engaged and attentive without being intrusive or pushy.

I was surprised at the dullness of the cooking. The garlic bread was fab and freshly cooked, but the main courses had almost definitely been cooked earlier and reheated. The puddings were bought in and were Waitrose/M&S standard but that's all. The special of Dover sole was a disappointment and much more expensive than we expected (no price given on wall, and I should have asked the price I suppose). Our arrival was ruined by the appearance that the place looked closed down. Friendly waitresses (not even faintly Sardinian) but the place had an air of doom! Sorry, but it did.
Love this place - Pepe Sale is perhaps the best dining experience for Sardinian cuisine anywhere in the UK. Food is always fresh and the portions are very generous. Service staff are polite and helpful and always ready to make you feel at home. In fact the entire atmosphere in this restaurant feels more like visiting someone’s home. Great selection of wines as well that are well-thought out to match with the specials as well as the regular menu. Dessert is great - especially the tiramisu and profiteroles. My favourite item is the ravioli stuffed with cod or sea bass and blackened with squid ink. The owner / chef takes a personal interest in diners, often visiting each table and taking orders. Have been here several times and will keep going. A real plus for Reading.
Not best experience. Hadn't been since before covid & has gone down hill. Had to ask for clean knife & served green tea at the end with a chipped cup so had to ask for new one. Food ok but had better.

I like it decor is nice and the food was good but my pasta was bit bland as I was expecting to a bit of chilli inside as was mentioned on the menu. Other friends of mine really enjoyed their meals. Definitely coming back again.

Food and service was good. I expected a bit more autentic Italian food, maybe we have not choosen the best dishes. Probably need to try again as other reviews are great.
