Absolutely beautiful place to visit.
3 generations of us walked up this mountin to the peak of Pen Y fan in around 4 hours with finner at the top.
It was Snow all over on the way up during Mid February.
Tourist walk all the way up and back is a good starter for anyone getting into Mountain walking.
There are different routes here, out and back and full loops that can take upto around 8 hours.
The car park has no Internet or call reception however you can pay on a app.
The car park has disability spaces and plenty of car park spaces.
Parking is £7.50 and disability spaces are free with a blue badge.
Three times as many cars parked on the verge of the main road as are in the NT car park. Be careful if you are crissing the road with children as its busy. Massive queues for the toilets. The walk is great but incredibly busy at the weekend - a non stop stream of people walking the path. Definitely worth the views though and not as many people do the whole loop so it gets quieter in places. Go at quieter times if you can.
This is a easier route to climb Pen-y-Fan peak and other peaks nearby. But, of course, climbing a peak is never easy and it is never boring. Scenic. We heard skylark song all throughout the journey. Lovely.
From the carpark, it is a 2 mile climb to the summit. Beautiful views on both sides across Wales.
From my point of view Wales is a God's (Nature) own Country. It has some stunning views. I have been to Wales for 3-4 times and trust me its never disappoints me. A couple of days ago I visited Pen-y-Fan and it was just amazing and I didn't have words to describe it. One of the Best Places for Hiking. The complexity of the trial is moderate so even a beginner can climb to the peak. The Hiking to the peak is around 1.5 hours and throughout the trial you will see many Streams and it's just a treat to the eye. The entire Landscape is covered with Green Grass and there is a separate walking path so it's safe to walk. The Walking trial is not so complex but you need to walk at least 1.5 hours to reach the peak and another 1 hour to come back. In total the hiking will be around 3 hours and It's really worth doing. The beauty of the hills takes your stress off and you will be completely relaxed and fresh. You should visit this place. In terms of Parking you need to pay 7.5 pounds per day if you are non member and for members it's free. Even if you park for a min you still need to pay 7.5 pounds. You need to pay using an App or you can pay using a cash machine (Only Coins and No change will be Given). In case you are hungry There is a small cafe for a quick bite. They also sell a route map in case you need additional information and you can buy from the information counter. Public toilets are also available.
A very nice carpark and staff working there are so polite and helpful, the toilets are spotless. Alot of hard work has gone into looking after this mountain.
There's even someone who walks up and down the mountain picking up litter that lazy people drop.
Absolutely good trail to go on. A bit of an 11k loop through varying routes that add to the difficulty of the trail. Also a few good segments for Strava athletes.
As seen in some of the pictures, Restoration of a patch of burnt peak has also started, building confidence in the preservation of the park and peaks for future use.
Worth a visit for nature lovers, hikers and athletes.
Fantastic place to walk and achieve something.
The best route was not from storey arms but from the car park just a little further down. The route on the way back, if you went onto the 2nd peak, was quite steep incline and decline. (Although you could bypass this peak)
Full of midgies and flies on both peaks a week later, and I still have visible itchy bites. So bring or wear fly repellant if your likely to get bitten.
