Came here for dinner on a Saturday evening. We had 3 adults & 2 children in our party. The food was amazing & you could tell it was fresh. The service was fantastic and they were all very friendly and welcoming.
The Penybont had been recommended to us by a few people and I'm so glad we took up the recommendations! We had the best meal we've had for a while: thoughtfully planned dishes; delicious tasting combinatiins; beautiful presentation and helpful, friendly service. The kitchen is open to the restraunt and chef Kevin demonstrates his enthusiasm by popping in and out to chat to diners about how he sourced and prepared the dishes. The menu was simple, giving assurance that the food is all freshly prepared and I would have happily chosen everything on it! If you're looking for 'generous portions' or a plate overloaded with chips, this place is probably not for you, but if you're interested in experiencing the results of good ingredients imaginatively and carefully prepared then you will enjoy it - hopefully as much as we did! We will be back!
We were warmly welcomed and treated to a wonderful evening of exquisite and beautifully presented food. The menu is very simple which in itself demonstrates quality, fresh and top notch cuisine. The restaurant is a gorgeous space, calm and well laid out. The kitchen is open so you can see chef Kevin busily creating his dishes. What I loved was that he came onto the floor to talk to each of his customers and quietly explained each dish. |Amy, his wife was very attentive and thoughtful. I would highly recommend Pen y Bont Inn for its excellence, a personal and warm atmosphere but above all a specially unique experience. We will definitely return!
Went for Sunday lunch with friends first to this pub since change over hands, delicious food and great combo team effort of Husband and wife, highly recommended. ||Portions and presentation were amazing. |Friendly service. |Reasonable price for good quality food.
We had a warm welcome, and ordered drinks 1 stout 1 IPA and a bottle of wine.|The wine was not cold as there is no wine cooler fridge,|Then moved into the restaurant which is simple and pleasant, we was by the wood burner.|We ordered starters 2 x pork terrine 2 x crab, the crab was for me a bit cold so lacked some flavour, the pork was ok.|The mains 2 x monk fish 2 x flat Iron and short rib. The monk fish was good but could have done with a little more sauce and a little veg or garnish. The flat iron and short rib for me was perfect, but very well-seasoned.|The desert was a lemon based desert which was pleasant and refreshing.|The dining room was a little noisy (noise from the bar area it was rugby night) and the lady’s found it cold, when someone come in or left the place it was very draughty and we was by the fire.||Overall all it was ok as the oven was not working and it had not been open long. we are returning to in march to see if things have settled and any changes have been made, which we are looking forward too.
Kevin and Amy were attentive and friendly hosts, the food was absolutely delicious, and great value for money. Warm and welcoming, definitely worth driving for dinner but next time we’ll be booking a room!!
Warm welcome and food was excellent, we had fish and chips and the steak was one of the best I've had, well worth a visit, good luck with your new venture
The food was amazing and great service. I'm looking forward to going back soon.
