Great shop with food, ice cream and crafts. Post office onsite to send the one you buy. Got a 99 icecream which was great.

Well worth a visit.
Orkney Spike.
Had basic coffee, rolls, sweets and various other items like gifts, crisps, candy. Unsure if petrol pump works as I did not try it. Toilet is down the road. Good stop before or after going to area stops.

Don't bother with the tearoom up the road, which by the way was closed, as the cakes sold at Palace Stores are the best i've had in some time, and i know! having stopped off at many a tearoom to reach Orkney, Mmm Mmm moist, fresh,light and generous. We sampled the cherry cake and the Beremeal (ground barley) date and Orkney fudge cake. Both were delicious and handmade by the friendly shop owner. They also sell fresh crab rolls (sadly they'd sold out as we arrived late afternoon) and Orkney ice cream along with many other tasty treats.
Amazing mince pies ???? freshly made waffles, would recommend if in the area you should pay them a visit ????
Went in slightly hung over, met some very friendly, helpful young ladies who sorted me out with lucozade ,ginger beer, orange juice,some breakfast rolls and a cheeky bag of sweet chilli crisps.Crackin shop,lovely ladies.cheers.
