Best KPortal Reviews

Very reasonably priced but thought that this was to reflect that there is currently no bar or restaurant service. However, on arrival it was clear that although advertised as a hotel it is much more like a hostel. I was booked for 4 nights as working in area but on returning after first night room was untouched. Bed unmade, no replacement tea or coffee, no cleaning etc. On speaking to receptionist was first told that this was because “I had not made my preferences known on arrival”. When I said that this had not been raised at any point receptionist went off and spoke to manager in back room. Manager did not bother coming to speak with me but apparently said that there was no service to rooms and that it says so on booking site. It does not. Was told I could ask for tea, coffee, toilet rolls etc at reception if needed. Room small and shabby with very, very thin walls, radiator blasting out heat and no way to control it. There was a kettle, but the flex only about half a meter long and nearest socket over 2 meters away. This site states that the renovations are completed but they are not – as evidenced by the many signs stating this in the reception. Only other guests appeared to be single men. I left before end of planned stay. How this place is rated as ‘Very Good’ beggers belief.
We had seen some worrying reviews, but actually it was perfectly fine. They obviously have a few problems with staffing, and the stunning older sitting rooms etc are closed, as are the kitchens. But it's still a beautiful characterful building, with lovely grounds, and our room was clean and functional. The staff we saw were friendly and helpful. I would stay here again- though I would also love to pay twice as much and stay in it fully restored!
This is just the first half of my review. I used to stay in this hotel for business and it was very nice, the staff were lovely and helpful, it was pet friendly, food was good. However, there were a few occasions when there were problems with the plumbing and shower facilities and which I was flexible about because the staff were responsive. One particular occasion the duty manager was downright rude and unhelpful and when I complained they simply refused to acknowledge my complaint. I have never been back since until recently. |The booking process starts off like any other and you get the relevant information. However, after booking and paying (the money having already been taken from my account), I received two further emails advising that I had to complete further information within 24 hours or they reserved the right to cancel my booking. This information included the contact information I had already provided and they want contact information for every guest. This means if you book a room for two and you don't provide the second person's contact details they can charge you more or cancel. So no privacy or opportunity for flexibility despite the fact you have paid for a double room. You also have to provide a digital copy of your pas. sport, driving licence or some form of ID, as well as sign it digitally, in order to complete the form as failure to submit it will result in cancellation. This is all AFTER you have booked and paid. Very big brother. I travel a lot and this is over the top. |Part 2 coming soon - I'm just awaiting a response to some feedback I provided in order to be fair to the hotel.
*Please give me a refund before I seek legal action*||||Very tired rooms, in need of attention and mold/damp in bathroom which I consider makes it unfit for human habitation due to severe health risks associated with this. ||||Staff attempted to clean this (was worse at first), although didn’t get a ladder to clean at the top/ ceiling, which makes the whole attempt at cleaning irrelevant.||||When I pointed this out to the manager, about an hour later she came to knock at my door to see if I’d left which I thought was really unprofessional and rude and then asked me when I planned to leave.||||The management team don’t care about the risk to health and although I was offered another room, my chest was really bad at this point and I was offered no help in lugging my stuff backwards and forwards and they didn’t even try and give me something nearby. I recently have left hospital with Pneumonia and I will be speaking to someone about this as it has made my chest problems worse. The manager’s attitude was disgusting- she attempted to blame me for the lack of damp proofing and then pretty much told me to go when I pointed it out, which I was more than happy to do when refunded.||||This “hotel” seemed ok at first (from the outside at least) and does give off refugee/asylum vibes. The room was very small and although I’m wary of supporting chains, I do wish I’d gone to one because at least all their rooms have certain guarantees such as king size beds, square footage etc and you can more or less be assured of what you are getting. At first I was ok with the room although it was tiny but you do get what you pay for, which is a very quiet hotel in the middle of nowhere, which claims there is someone on the property until 11pm (but they hide in a staff only part) so there is no visible presence, which can feel very unsafe, especially with the large groups of men hanging around outside. ||||You definitely get what you pay for and if you don’t want small cheap rooms in the middle of nowhere with damp/ mold and no visible staff presence… actually still don’t go for this. Hope Flintshire council see this and reconsider their proposals as this is unsafe.
Understanding that this wasn't closed and/or turned into a site for refugees, and knowing the restaurant/bar was under refurb, I booked this room via their website, extraordinarily cheap, I received an email with an access code... (to enter the front door), but there was no code on email. Standing in the dark, I phoned the number (on the front door) numerous times and got cut off! After waiting half an hour, another guest arrived and had trouble entering the access code! It worked eventually. The room was clean and comfy with a bed and bath, plenty of towels. ||Feedback to the new owners - why do you need a photo of my ID to book this? Why is your old number and email address still on your website?
Do not stay at this hotel. Lots of strange men hanging about and no staff around. We waited downstairs for 15mins to try get a towel, pressed bells etc but no one came. We left without staying overnight as two women we felt unsafe. As we pulled up to the hotel there were a lot of men hanging around the front door. As we left men were in a group wandering around the hotel. I'm not sure what this hotel is being used for but it shouldn't be available for paying customers to book. It is isolated also. Never stay here! Be warned
We left after an hour! Do not book this 'hotel' it's more like a bail hostel. No staff anywhere to be found to attend to queries. ( no towel in room) . Groups of men hanging around the front door. Wandering the corridors, fighting outside. Really scary place especially for 2 women. This place should not be listed as some where to book. It's cheap for a reason. Avoid like the plague!
Dirty, stained carpets, cobwebs and its residents, bed needed replacing springs digging in ya.|No wardrobe not even a coat hanger.|Wall a super thin, u can hear the room (s) next to ya.|Bathroom no extractor so ends up like a sauna. Bath neefs recoated and resealed, shower was pathetic.|Left after 1 night, had booked 4.|But|Logan at head office absolute no interest in any type of refund or goodwill gesture.|Yet the must be aware the state of the rooms but still let them out.|Absolute dive, best book something better than this place,|Should not be that difficult
