Had a fish supper here - nothing extraordinary but reasonably priced. Unfortunately you can only get a takeout after 8 pm.
A warm welcome from the start. Decor is a fantastic time warp with everything clean. As for the food: excellent portions of delicious fish with light and crispy batter, chips were well cooked, full of flavour and the mushy peas were top notch. A great place to eat and good value to boot.
The food has gone downhill. Portion sizes small, which wouldn't be so bad if the food was nice. Greasy & tasteless. The service is awful...very rude & made me think that they're doing you a big favour. Like it was a big effort to have a customer there. Prices are higher than anywhere else....just not worth going. No atmosphere in there. Old fashioned. Could do with a deep clean too. Never again!
Usually love the Northern. However we went there last night and sat for ages with no one coming to serve us. Multiple families, both for seating and takeaway came in and were served yet arrived after us. Others were also having issues being ignored. One person went to the counter and was rudely told to sit down and someone would come over. We were probably there 15-20mins and no service still, so got up and left.
Anytime I'm in Elgin I love going there.

Worst fish n chips ever. ???? Fish as well as chips tasted very bad, think oil they used were burned & needed to throw 1 month ago. Wasted £10.
Brilliant food so friendly and was so clean a credit to the owner.
I went to this chip shop this afternoon for sausage and chips for me my wife and small child.
Greeted nicely however 20.50 for 3 portions and a couple of sauces was not what I was expecting hand full of chips each and very small pots of sauce.
I wont be going back.
