We were offered continental breakfast for £10 each the night before as we checked in.Only a small flask of coffee for 2,toast,yoghurt-very poor value I feel.A continental breakfast usually includes Danish pastries, a verity of bread,salad,cheese,ham,salami.,fruit. Dissapointed but when asked how was our stay -couldn't be bothered to complain about the breakfast-needed to get to Taplow Court by 9am.
Nice big room but unfortunately no shampoo. Lovely staff good breakfast.
The hotel has probably seen better days but once inside it wad very comfortable, clean and well fitted out.|We needed to stay in the area for a night and didn’t want to stay in one of the soulless big chain hotels. The Norfolk House fitted the bill, although they could probably do with tidying up the front.|We booked two rooms and they were both fine. Breakfast was fine in the morning. They did have a bar which we didn’t use nor the restaurant but not sure if this is only open on certain nights.|The owners and staff were very friendly,
The Norfolk House Hotel is quaint, clean, extremely welcoming and good value.
I stayed only one night. They have a delightfully large garden and patio area.
The breakfast room was lovely and and serves a very good breakfast.
Very thing clean, and good provisions of soap, body wash etc. Lots of walking in the area to the picturesque river and lake.
Well worth a visit.
Our decision to stay here for one night spoiled a weekend, and was a complete waste of time and money.|Although we’re very circumspect in choosing hotels, it’s hard to do well when a business tells barefaced lies about its facilities.|This hotel is still promising [at the time of this review] that guests “have access to a sun terrace, baggage storage, and newspaper. You can also enjoy a pool and free breakfast.”|Well, the ‘sun terrace’ overlooked the empty, dirty pool, so not the best view. Who knows about ‘baggage storage’? It’d have been an error, as there was never anyone at reception.|We’d booked specifically to ‘enjoy the pool’, so asked about it at check-in.|The response: “1600 pools in the UK – closed.”|This baffling reply made us feel as if we’d wandered into some surreal pub quiz.|It seems we were then given a slightly bigger room, to ‘compensate’ for the fictitious pool.|[I later walked about the room in my swimsuit, but honestly, it wasn’t the experience we’d hoped for.]|The room was clean – though that short-lived quality was spoiled by the stench of cooking that permeated the room that evening; the mix of fish and stale oil smells was so bad that we had to put on the extractor fan in the bathroom throughout the night.|The ‘free breakfast’ was not. “A full English is £15,” we were told, “and £10 for a small one.”|So, that’s what we paid for. The full English had the cheapest possible ingredients, and the ‘small one’ was in fact, ‘continental’, with a few Dairylea and Babybel cheeses, some fruit and a cold, stale croissant.|At least the cat wasn’t sitting on a dining chair, as it had been when we arrived.|I do think that someone should take responsibility for the running and marketing of this place. And perhaps the same grown-up should realise that putting ‘hazard tape’ around a dangerous, broken floor tile – at the base of the stairs – is not an alternative to actually mending it. |A thoroughly miserable experience. Our advice: avoid.|
Norfolk House has the comfortable feel of a country house hotel with delightful English-style bedrooms. Dappled sunlight flickers in from the tall windows. The rooms are clean and well appointed with an in-room fridge and a clean bath/shower.||The staff are wonderful. The owner, Joseph ("Joe") greeted us personally and was so welcoming. After a seven hour drive to get there he treated me to a generous tumbler of Jamieson to take the edge off my journey down.||The full-English breakfast the next morning was delicious.||This quaint, ageing, property is delightful and extremely good value for money.||Highly recommended.
Very clean room, very welcoming upon arrival. Lovely high ceilings in our room. Atmospheric. Easy reach of clivedon.|We stayed one night. Walked into town for evening meal. Unfortunately couldn't accommodate us for breakfast.|Marked a little down as struggled with a small double bed and one of us ended up sleeping on the floor (which was lovely and clean). |Would gladly visit again but for us maybe a twin room next time
We stayed here the room was very comfortable and clean. Joe welcomed us upon arrival and showed us to our double room overlooking the beautiful gardens. We had a lovely night's sleep and the breakfast was delicious. We would definitely come again and would recommend.|
