What are all these fake reviews for!! We love this place - owners are lovely and food portions huge!
Have had jacket spuds with loads of fillings and the best big salad full of fresh coleslaw. Also the tastiest toasties with lots of choice of fillings.
We forgot to order cheese one of the spuds after paying, and the owner popped some on for free! Don’t read the bad reviews on here - just go try for yourselves :)
Just popped in for a bite to eat. Brown granary roll with grated cheese and mixed salad. Nothing of which had any taste. Nice enticing display of goods looked inviting sadly I can not say the same for the female member of staff who served me Very abrupt and rude. Not helpful at all. I’m glad I’m not local to Dorchester. I do hope she was just having a’bad’ day and I was unlucky as I feel the experience could affect the owners trade
After reading through some of the reviews for the first time, I felt the need to post my own review.
I have been going to this bakery since they opened. The breads are very good & different from your average baker. In the beginning I found the owner to be fine, friendly & sociable..staff were fine also. But over the past couple of years I have to agree with some of the other comments on here. For some reason the owners attitude has changed over time. Rude, arrogant, moody & when I'm just being sociable I've been greeted by no response or sharp answers on several occasions as if I have offended & creates an atmosphere. I have to say the lady & partner of the husband who works there has always been cheerful & fine to me.
I know dealing with the public is never easy as you can't please everyone & there will always been somebody who will find fault with anything & be difficult. But in my case I have been thinking for a while now why should I give anybody my custom if treated in this way & after reading some reviews it's made me think it can't just be me then.
Perhaps there's a reason for the behaviour but even so...you don't bite the hand that feeds you.
I guess as the saying goes if your not happy with the service you go elsewhere.
The reviews here have made that decision for me.
I've never really been a fan of bread, however this place has absolutely changed my opinion.
Absolutely recommend the chilli & cheese loaf (only made on Fridays)
My new go to place for a sandwich lunch whenever I'm in Dorchester.

I have no problem with the products they make the specialty breads are amazing cakes lovely but as lots of others have said the staff and owners can be rude or disinterested definitely not people people, if you put a sign out in the street early before you open people will think your open, if your sitting outside early taking a break before you open and someone asks for a loaf the doors open and signs out don’t be rude if they ask to buy something, you have a product people want. But I don’t comeback when spoke to rudely. If it was me I would take the persons money and be grateful they returned up there every other weekend and don’t use now shame.
I never usually write a review unless its a positive one because i dont beleive in putting a small buisness down but I've never experienced such rude customer service in my life. Its Almost like they don't want your custom. I can say the food was nice but the bad attitude and sarcasm is enough not to go back there. Not to mention not taking cash, (he took it in the end) the way he handled the money was so snobby, like he was scared to touch it. Won't be going back again and looking at other reviews on other sites, they haven't earned there self's a very good rep.
Wish I had read reviews before we stopped here for our lunch! The owner was rude, his staff were rude and the food was poor. The woman who initially served us barked at me whilst I was speaking to my husband (I think it was an attempt at sarcasm) but upon receiving an equally brusque answer she simply turned and walked off, leaving us with the totally disinterested owner.
I don't know why he thinks it's alright to be so arrogant whilst making such bad coffee but I find it an odd way to conduct business.
As for the food....the sausage rolls consist of some nasty, pasty goo inside some pastry. The flat white had virtually no coffee in it, most disappointing.
All in all, our visit left a bad taste in the mouth - in every way.
