Best KPortal Reviews
Hats off to them to get all those available at the top of the resort with extreme weather conditions, and yet the prices are nominal.
The food was good and the staff were some of the best - very kind and friendly.
And the views, my god, very worth it. And to add to the fun, there is a well stocked bar too.
It’s a lovely ???? little cafe ☕️ to have a small lunch break on the day at the top of the mountain and gondola. It’s lovely during cold weather to have a cup of hot chocolate with some cakes.
The price is pretty reasonable for the price. The food is nothing fancy but it’s good enough for where it’s located and the breathtaking views really steal the show anyway.
There are lots of seats near the windows and there is also a balcony to enjoy the mesmerising views of the mountains and towns below.
I came here with my two brothers and had an amazing day here with the gondola ride too.
There is also (as of 2024) a penny machine if you are a collector. (It only takes coins and not card so if you want to add this to your collection you need to bring coins)
Not a restaurant, but a canteen with warm-ish food!
The staff was lovely, the view amazing but unfortunately the food wasn't as great. It's a canteen style restaurant with already prepared food kept under heat lamps, so nothing fancy nor freshly cooked. The prices are reasonable though and it's dog friendly.
Overall I'd advise not to come there for the food, but if you're here to enjoy the view in the warmth then could be worth it!
We really like the atmosphere, good coffee, Oven cut Chips and nice interior. This is an amazing spot to see charming natural beauty. The drinks and foods were all tasty and worthwhile. Must visit if you come to highland. Cable car price is high but can’t offer less than 5 stars as we enjoyed
How can anyone give this a positive review??
The food was atrocious. We were really hungry yet we both could not finish it. It was revolting. It looked like gas station food from the 90s so I picked a dish were it would need an extra effort to make it horrible. A hot dog.
The sausage was probably there the entire day under a heat lamp (because that is how you prepare a hot dog...), dry and yuck. The bun was something that had zero flavor (not bad at least!). They threw old lettuce on it with no dressing. I asked for dressing after which I had a dry hotdog with dressing and old lettuce on top of said hot dog (??). One bite and that was it.
My wife had a pie. What could be more simple to prepare. Buy them frozen (any random supermarket brand will do), put them in an oven and voila... pretty much what most cheap bakeries do. But somewhere between "remove them from the freezer" to "server the customer", something horrible happened. It was a mushroom something pie and even the mushrooms inside looked like they survived a horrible crime...
There was also Mac & Cheese but of course, why use macaroni to, you know, be a Mac & Cheese. We just gave up.
We just sat there and thought, this could be a gold mine for whoever rented this.
I give two points because the two ladies at the beer counter where really friendly and the beer and cider tasted like it should.
Maybe they were just having a bad day...
We went up on the gondola and decided not to take a picnic and use the cafe at the top of the range. We are a family of five and just wanted a light bite.
The girls wanted hot dogs but they had sold out at 12.15 so they shared a portion of chips instead - the only other alternative was a burger for them but every single one in the display was burnt. Myself and my wife had French onion soup, this was almost inedible, one was served with a seeded roll and the other with a roll from the burgers - when ladling the soup the boy serving poured it all over the rolls. I got the the till and the lady took payment for three hot chocolates and a cappuccino. It then took no less than 10 minutes to prepare these drinks, hot chocolate was out of a soup kettle and was horrifically lumpy - another couple behind us also said it was undrinkable. For this amount of food it was just over £50 - which considering they had to cart it all up a mountain I would have been quite happy with if edible.
Then to the facilities themselves, every toilet in the men's had both vomit and faeces in - the establishment can't be blamed for this but every bin overflowing and no toilet roll available was easily avoidable. My wife said the women's was similar with no toilet paper and bins overflowing. I ended up taking my daughter to the disabled toilet although that was blocked!
When returning to the cafe to meet the rest of the family I saw that the boy who had served us was picking at the food on display and eating it between serving customers - surely this isn't hygienic.
The experience of being at the top of the gondola with incredible views is breathtaking and covered in a separate review.
Reading previous reviews I hope that this was a one off, but if our experience was anything to go by please shut this establishment, I spoke to some American tourists on the balcony afterwards and they were saying how awful it was - I am embarrassed that this is the impression given to them of Scotland!
A welcome break off our motorbike - gondola ride and coffee with a view. Amazing to watch crazy people on mountain bikes tackling the downhill course from cable car too. Loved it
At the top station just as you get out of the cable car. Hot drinks and food to enjoy as you look out over the range. There's also a bar.
