Best KPortal Reviews
We have been here previously however hadn't been aware of the racist merchandise.
Clues for the owner that they are reaching for justification are firstly that they have rebranded the dolls as "Jolly Gollies", secondly that they have been removed from the window display and thirdly the desperate pleas for no photography and signs claiming "we are not here to offend".
I am not offended I am ashamed that anybody is going to this length to push their "I'm not racist but..." narrative.
The dolls are made to dehumanise and using this for profit in any century is abhorrent.
You have lost customers, and I hope reviews continue to highlight that this is still taking place and more people vote with their feet.
Great place for lunch. Delicious homemade soup and of course pots of Yorkshire tea. Friendly and quick service.
To my surprise when browsing this shop, I was met with a display of Goliwogs! The owners of the store clearly know it’s racist, hence the signs for no photography and not to take offence.
Just so we’re clear, they are offensive! An embarrassment to Goathland!
Very nice coffee shop. Quite busy, which is always good to see.
The lady who served us at the till and took our order was very friendly and helpful.
Service was in good time, not long to wait for our order to come to the table. Prices are reasonable, definitely not expensive.
If you have to have a sign asking people not to take pictures of your racist minstrel dolls, you’re the problem. They have a sign up saying they’re not “here to offend” and instead “remembering a bygone era”…ask yourself why you want to reminisce about that era. Disgusting and the fact that they were being restocked while we were there tells me people are actually buying this trash. NOT OKAY.
The steak n ale pie with mushy peas is just that, it was awful to see and taste that the pie had been microwaved and soggy as a result. Staff were getting flustered with only 25% capacity. Would advise finding another cafe! Toilets are about 800m walk away and nowhere close to wash your hands!! Not recommended!!
Popped in for a snack, with wife and son.
Excellent sausage&bacon rolls on brown bread, delicious coffee, and quick friendly service.

Shocked that a modern business would still be profiting from selling racist caricatures. They have a sign about "preserving history" but that is just not good enough. They are not a museum and therefore should not be selling thses itema. The staff did not greet me at all either so sevice wasnt even good. Do better.
