We were greeted with a comfortable bed, great views, a luxurious bath and a sun trap of a deck. Parking is plentiful and close by, as is a good-quality cafe to look after you while the restaurant is restored. Above all, the hosts treat you like an old friend - couldn't ask for better!
Amazing hosts! |After a devastating flood (believed to be caused by a guest) this place has had a complete makeover in the dining room ready for re-opening of the restaurant.|We were allowed to use it for our takeaway tea with amazing views over the bay.|There is a cafe 50 metres away offering breakfast from 8am if you need it.|The rooms were of a great size and whilst needing some modernisation, had everything you need and were very comfortable.|Highly recommended.
We booked for a two night stay and were told on arrival, that there would be no breakfast or evening meal due to flood damage which happened a few months ago. If this had been mentioned before we booked on their official website, we wdnt have made the booking.
Arrived mid afternoon to the front door locked and a note attached with a phone number. The person who answered said they would be 2 mins as in the pub up the road.
After very brief introductions we were shown to a room and she departed back to the pub leaving us on our own in the hotel.
As we booked the room based on published photographs we were amazed that apart from the bed being recognisable the rest of the room and en-suite were dreadful. The bath was stained yellow, the windows covered in privacy film that was hanging off. Opened the wardrobe door to a dreadful smell of damp. The wall paper was hanging off the walls and furniture and the window bottom covered in dust. The door was covered in dirty handprints.
The bed linen looked as if it had already been slept in and I have never seen such disgusting pillows.
We put the keys downstairs and left .
We wanted to stay in this area and the Moelwyn fitted the bill. We got on very well with the staff we met and enjoyed our stay: lovely cooked breakfast, comfortable quiet room and parking nearby. Above all the views are marvellous.|However, it appears to be a work in progress.|1. The carpet in our bedroom was very dirty and urgently needs deep cleaning.|2. The grout in our shower was mouldy in large patches.|3. Some options at breakfast were limited: three varieties of cereal, only strawberry jam. No fruit.|4. Some paint on our bedroom ceiling was pealing off.||I would love to return to see the finished product.
The Moelwyn is overlooking the beach and the views of Black Rock and the Castle are worth the trip. Breakfast was good and there was a good choice to have. We are in the restaurant and the menu offered a choice of dishes. The food was served hot and the quality of the food was very good. Prices were reasonable.
We wanted a Sunday lunch and enquired, beautiful Sunday roast dinner and delicious bread and butter pudding. The owner and staff were very friendly. Lovely position with a view of the sea. Would highly recommend it, and will visit again on our Sunday outings.
Prime spot facing the sea. Hosts Tom and Amelia made us really welcome. Had Sunday lunch which was very reasonable. Spent the evening on the terrace with bottle of wine. Couldn't fault anything. Will return. Thanks Steve for breakfast really looked after us
