A busy Saturday lunchtime before New Year’s Eve and the hard working team at Mirfield fisheries gave me and a family of six the best fish and chips we had had in years. Well worth the train trip back home to West Yorkshire from London in itself! The special was sensational - highly recommended. The best in town.

When in and got fish and chips wasn't disappointed once I got home. The women behind the counter spoke to me while the fish and chips were cooking thought it was nice instead of just standing and watching place was clean and nice looking.

Excellent fish and chips. The fish was freshly cooked to order and big! We will make fish and chips from here a regular treat.

It's not the cheapest in the area, but you get what you pay for quality, and they were very nice well worth travelling for in which I did

Best fish and chips I've had in ages ????

Let's start with the freshly prepared fish. Good size with nice crispy batter well prepared and great tasting. Now onto the chips. Good size portion, cold and greasy. They had clearly been kept warm (almost warm) for a long time. They were so bad it totally ruined the meal. They had quite possibly been there all day. At £5.05 for Fish & Chips and £2.50 for a chip buttie (my order) I expected better.This wasn't just an unfortunate one off as on my last visit the chips were also sub-par. Fresh chips is surely not too much to ask when they make up 50% of the signature dish. Very disappointed.

Always cook to order so you get a well cooked fish with a decent portion of chips
