After hearing many good things from work colleagues I visited for lunch last week….
Seems my work colleagues are poor food critics….Chips had a chewy outside/skin rather than crispy (tasted old like they’d been sat). Drinks £1.20 for a can ???????? and regular chips nearly two quid a bag ????!
Will be trying Savages in Caistor next time, Micks have set a low bar indeed
Went in on the off chance, after driving home from Lowestoft. It’s the best fish and chips I’ve had in a very long time. Great service, small portions if you choose. Best in area
Anemic under cooked chips. This is a regular chips so small portions. Fryer left during service in her food cooking gloves to buy cakes off the market. Avoid. Went in the bin.
Gorgeous piece of large haddock perfectly cooked, chips and mushy peas all for £7:50.

Chips are much better than their rivals Savages. Good colour and flavour on them. And at least a decent amount of salt. However, what let's them Mick's down is the portion sizes. A large chips was barely the equivalent to a small portion from Savages!! I usually split a large chips between 2 of us, but their portions where so small it just wasn't possible, and they can't even argue that their prices are cheaper to reflect the small portions, cause they just aren't. So while pleased with the food itself, they seriously need to do something about the stingy helpings and not ripping us off!!
Food is lovely however some servers are plain jarring and rude. Need to learn how to have better customer service.
Best chippie for miles and excellent value for money every time. ????
