Amazing food! Travelled from London and had the stew chicken and curry goat, rice and chicken patties, it was the best we’ve had! The owner was brilliant! And so friendly! Such a shame we don’t live nearer, would 100% recommend
What a surprise, really good Caribbean food in the heart of Basildon. Was in Basildon for the day from London Town and stumbled across this gem. Mat was a warm and welcome host, I plumped for the jerk chicken, rice and peas . I just loved it juicy and sweet with a bit of.jerk kick. A little (well not so little )bowl of sunshine on winters day. As good a best Caribbean food I've had up town. Highly recommended and I will be back for that goat curry.
Just WOW. Outside of my wife cooking Jamaican food, I've never really enjoyed it. Only had it here in the UK and in South Africa where I am from. Now, let me tell you something. My wife suggested we try this place and I hesitated but when that oxtail and curry mutton came out and I got down into them, it was just bliss. This guy can cook. Very authentic Jamaican food. You won't be disappointed. No photos to add because we just sat in the car and 'clean off' everything. ❤️????
When you put as much love, time and energy into something your are guranteed a good result, and this food is nothing short of outstanding. My partners Carribean family could not belive just how good this place was! We even travelled from Leigh on sea to collect. If you are going to eat here then make sure to grab a drink and just enjoy talking to Matteus before you eat, the guy is a legend. This place is a gem and if you are reading this review, then take our word when we say ORDER IT!
Also to note, we have two celiacs in the family, Matteus went of of his way to make us comfortable and reassured us that we had nothing to worry about. Eating in new places can sometimes be tricky for us as we don’t know how food will affect us. We both felt great after and that just shows how fresh and authentic this food is!

I passed by for lunch and had the curry goat. It was absolutely delicious, the meat falling off the bone and a nice kick to the sauce. The owner was friendly and talked me through the options on the menu. Great food, generous portions and reasonably priced too. I’ll be back for sure!
Update:
I have now been back several times. Matteus always greets me with a smile and talks me through the menu. I haven't been disappointed yet. In fact, it seems to be getting better each and every time. I'll be returning until I've tasted everything on the menu! After that, I'll still be a regular!

I lived in Essex for over 10 years, moved from London and was looking for a place to eat real Carribbean food and only just found it! This is the best spot in Essex!
The food is incredible, Matthew shows love, respect and even encouraged my son when we came through.
Ackee and salt fish, dumpling, jerk chicken, curry goat, patties. We tried it all!

The greatest carribean food I've had in England and lucky for me it's in the heart of my town. Matteus as usual provides great service and singlehandedly provided a much needed upgrade to what was Mr Biggs carribean spot. The quality of food, cleanliness of the workspace and energy of the owner really makes this the best option. Always a pleasure Matteus.
