Today 4/1/24 went to Marshalls as Taste our usual café was closed. I ordered the Hot Chicken & Stuffing sandwich. Wish I'd taken a photo! I couldn't eat it! The stuffing had not been cooked !!???? I took the sandwich back and told them i believed they had just added hot water to some paxo then spread it on the tcake! To which they said that is how they'd been told to do it! And we can't oven cook it as we don't have an oven. So to the Manager! Stuffing should be cooked in the oven for approximately 25-30 mins! Ps the amount of chicken would just about fill a match box! Will not be going here again.
The spam sandwich was a joke. Literally one sad piece of spam. Other cafes would at least have enough to flavour the bread.
Only had a hr dinner been before and never had a problem today was not good .we waited 3/4hr for our food to turn up our drinks were finished in that time .in the end we had to ask for our Money back for our food due to having to go back to work. The reply was well there's only 3 of us .We understand but if your busy and short staff before taking order just mention that there's a little bit of a wait that gives the customer to decide to stay or go .wasn't the only ones complaining
I visit here from time to time for either a solitary lunch midweek when working from home, or with my aged parents (who like the place for a cuppa and a bun) on a weekend. Generally the staff are polite and friendly enough, the menu isn't an extensive one but does offer the basics at a reasonable price. Added to that, the place is clean enough and is well located in Cleck down the ‘Rubber Tunnel’.
However for me, I do find their portion sizes on the small side and whilst this probably suits their general ‘silver haired’ customers - I’d like to see more beef on my Hot Beef and Gravy butty (to give an example). I also find service can be slow and depending upon who serves you, a little bit hit and miss customer service wise. For example, on my last visit, having studied the menu on the wall above the counter, I felt the lady working on the till was more preoccupied fiddling with its buttons than acknowledging my existence and serving me. So after some minutes of being ignored, I gained her attention with a loud cough! I suspect she was probably new as once she did notice me and took my order but seemed completely flummoxed with a card payment and then entered a realm of confusion as she decided which number my table was when asked where I wanted to sit.
Allowances for that should be given if she’s new I suppose, but I’ve still knocked a couple stars off for that and the generally slow service and small portions I've experienced on more than one occasion.
This cafe is a good asset for Cleckheaton, so get these areas improved, and we’re onto a winner where I could become a regular.
We visited Cleckheaton this week and decided to have drink and a bun here, I can honestly say the service was impressive, the tea and vanilla slice was perfect. Very courteous and polite, the cafe was spotlessly clean. Nothing to fault in any way. Don’t be put off by the negative reviews, this is as good as you will get anywhere. I’m a pensioner and we can get very fussy. ????????

I think any low review of this place is a little bit dramatic, I eat here a lot since I discovered it and they have some of the best food I have ever tasted. It is always so fresh and well prepared every time without fail.
Furthermore, the great food is accompanied by lovely staff, always happy and helpful and you can really get along great with them and they give you a great sense of friendship.
All around this place is fantastic and I would honestly highly advise you go and try it out for yourselves!
I had a cold breakfast in here today 9/4/2022 when I reported that the beens were very cold and other things were only like warm at best. I was treated flippantly. "Yes I might report it" was the reaction. No change to anything. Eventually some toast turned up. I would give it a wow for being pathetic. Past owners would be 100% embarrassed at.
Lovley, lovley coffee shop, I usually call for a coffee every morning. Staff are so friendly and helpful, as are the other customers who call in most days for a coffee. Everyone is made to feel welcome.
