Fresh fish, cooked to order in crispy batter, just about perfect after a long hike or amble around town. There’s space to eat at a table inside which is welcome if the weather is less favourable. Usual range of fried foods, reasonably priced and very tasty. Oh, and they make a decent cuppa tea.
The food was lovely, hot and tasty, but the cleanliness of the restaurant was very poor. The table we sat down on had food on the floor and dirty tissues. there was 2 other tables that were dirty on top, dirty cutlery left salt scattered on it and bits of food spread over. Not very appealing seeing discarded food and dirty tables when you are trying to eat
Had some lovely fish and chips here. Very good portion size and tasty too. Staff very friendly and helpful. Ideally situated for takeaway to the commons nearby or has eat in facilities too.
Service was good but the food was extremely poor.
The chips were overcooked and dried out, over salted and oily. It was not the freshest tasting fish and the batter was very dark, greasy, soaked in and tasting of old oil that needs changing.
One of the worst fish and chips I've ever eaten and couldn't finished it, even after picking off the batter.
We are down on holiday and fancied fish and chips. The staff were very friendly, helpful and served us quickly. The fish, scampi and chips we got were absolutely top notch! We would recommend Mark’s to everyone.
Every time I have been in I get a unsettling glare off of the chap who cooks the food.The girl's are friendly and helpful though but the food portions are kid size,chip's soggy and mushy! Batter tasteless and dripping in grease ! The atmosphere and vibe I get off the chap is that he does not want me in there so I'm more than happy to oblige ! Bad atmosphere, over priced,under portioned and the food is inedible.Over all a very disappointing experience that I do not wish to relive.
Tiny portions, wet and pale chips. Extra star because service was friendly and fish was ok.
Also, I’ve never ever been anywhere to eat in and been charged for sachets of ketchup. Feels really tight considering how overpriced the food was.
My sister lives in Southwold so myself and 2 children come to visit every few weeks and come to marks chippy every time we come down, the food is always cooked lovely and they have the best curry sauce in Southwold
