During the covid-19 era, just happened to be in the area and despite the town being a ghost town, this little bakery was open and selling hot food.
Got the Sunday roast with chicken breast. Great food, loved every bite. Had mash, roast & boiled potatoes, turnip, carrots, green beans, sprouts, cauliflower, peas, chicken, stuffing and a Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Fantastic!
Very similar to previous named business, tasty tuckers.
Good selection of hot food, pies/pasties, curry and chips, mince and dumplings, roast dinners, hot beef/ pork sandwiches etc good value and great portions.
They sell a vast selection of cream cakes and dessert items too.
What went wrong? We travel all the way from Seaham for your cakes. Today I was served a chocolate rolo sponge. The fresh cream was brown and the cake tough. Certainly not the usual standard The cake went in the bin as the taste wasn't too pleasant either
don't be fooled by bad reviews I have eaten a banoffee tart today and it was absolutely fantastic. Probably the best bakery around. No soggy pastry. Top quality food. No complaints just wish I lived closer

The Market bakery is great for good value patisserie. That’s what we called in for yesterday to have a working from home treat after lunch.
The bakery also sells lots of hot meal options, coffee and a bacon roll at breakfast, etc. It also offers full meals, you could get a full roast dinner if you didn’t want to cook.
The hours are convenient, it’s easily accessed from Tesco car park or Morrison’s car park which are both free.
My mate who used to work here left because it was a rat infested hovel. Sunday lunch meat is kept in the fridge from the Monday till its used on the Sunday.

Went today, bought a good selection of cakes, 2 chocolate trifles, strawberry cheesecake, strawberry tart, lemon meringue & a scone, the chocolate trifles were disgusting the topping was fizzy & cheesecake tasted like a block of margarine, haven't tried the rest yet.
