First place ive found in sheffield that does decent fish & chips, i live near the coast so fish & chips round there are super tasty and hard to beat this place might just make it there. Would of liked if they fried the fish fresh dont know how long it been sat there but overall proper good.
Well... The good thing is they were open when I wanted fish'n'chips, for a change. Beyond that:
Knocking on £8 for an oversized fishfinger and chips I had to cook myself!??! No thanks. Sorry, since Heeley Green chippie went downhill again & now shut altogether, you're the nearest chippie, but frankly not worth the 5 minute bike ride. Tbf, the child's portion of fish was nicely cooked and didn't stick to the paper???? but half the chips are out in the garden for the hedgehog.
Small, expensive, undercooked and disappointing.
Best thing about this chippy is the Chicken Curry (which is amazing and the only reason I visit). The chips however are quite poor. They don't make them from fresh potatoes like lost other chippys, instead are bought in frozen. Just like we would get from a supermarket.
They seem to get greedier each year and this time is the final straw. They've always done small increases which is fair enough but this time a £1.50 increase on Chicken Curry and chips. They make enough money on match days and obviously just pure greed. Not that I can't afford it, but out of principle I have just had my last visit.
Do not, under any circumstances visit this place. If you want frozen fish, frozen chips. Charged at fresh prices, then sure. visit. Otherwise, there are FAR better places. DO NOT VISIT.
It's ok, not the best chippy by a long way! If you are passing it's fine, but chips are often soggy or overcooked and the fish is not very good. However, sausages and pies are usually ok, and curry sauce is good!
Take away chicken curry all over carrier bag ordered 3 .can’t add up went this week on way home from work no chips for rest small order.fish cake burnt black on bottom.sausage looks like been in fro 9 in morning
Love this fish and chip shop. By far the best in sheffield in my opinion and the greatest chicken curry and chips in a tray.
Food wasn't too bad, however the staff were odd. They seemed frustrated that I went in and ordered a small meal, they almost forgot some of the items I ordered and didn't really have any effort to do their jobs.
