This place the service is incredibly slow, a slim/average build Woman in her late 40's to maybe early 50's took around 10 Mins to serve each customer. There were 2 people in front of us and we had to wait around 20 Mins but all the lady had to do was heat up the food for maximum of 2-3 Mins. They also tried to charge me for a large Oxtail & rice and peas when I ordered a small.
West Indian/Black businesses won't get anywhere like this trying to steal off customer's. They are lucky that this food tastes very nice otherwise they would barely get any customers at all.
Their must be some form of customer service because this wouldn't be acceptable in a East Indian restaurant, nor a Chinese nor a Turkish place selling Kebabs. The West Indian/Caribbean food should be within the top 3 dishes in England but its barely accessible so it actually has no rating which is terrible because we have been here in England since the 50's and 60's.

Absolutely disgusted with what we were charged. The lady serving charged more than she should have. One fish 11.50 and rice, curry goat and rice 11.50 plus 2 dumplings and a portion of chicken legs. Have been many places and you don't pay that much. Black people what can I say...
Oh and by the way have just checked their menu prices and we were charged higher. I will not recommend anyone there and we travelled out of town. Thise types of business never do well in the long by robbing people no matter how good the food is. Goodbye Mama's Kitchen....
I've literally tried every single carribean resturant/takeaway in Nottingham over the years.
Tried this one last week and the taste of the food was absolutely amazing. It really was spot on.
We had 2x curried mutton with rice and peas, steamed veg, a large portion of Ox tail and 2 x lamb patties..
Everything was proper tasty and the ox tail was the nicest I've ever had so was the curried mutton!!!
Literally the only bad thing was the portion of meat in the curried mutton was very very small.
The vast majority of it was massive bones but I do prefer my curried mutton with the bones cuz that's were all the flavour comes from but they definitely should try and make the ratio in the meals more evenly.
It's a shame as the food was amazing but if we hadn't ordered the large oxtail then we wouldn't of had no were near enough meat and gravy for 3½ massive scoops of rice and peas each
Will definitely return but will tell the lady to chill out on the bones next time ????
Everything we ordered was heated in the microwave from jerk chicken, to jerk pasta, dumplings, fish fritta, and callaloo. The callaloo tasted okay but I soon realised when I started to feel sick that it was because the amount of oil within the dish, I tilted the container on the side and squeezed at least 3/4 tbsp oil from this- and that was after eating half of the portion. My partner had the jerk chicken which he didn’t like it eat, it was only just warm and the meat was low quality- he was more than sure that it wasn’t freshly made that day. The pasta we didn’t eat as the chicken had lots of gristle in it. And both the dumplings and frittas soaked the paper packet in oil before we ate it, which I guess you expect for fried food but considering all of our food seemed to have excess oil in it, it was a bit off putting. Sad to say I won’t be coming here again. The dumplings were the best thing we had from our meal, but weren’t the best we’ve ever had.
I can honestly say Mama's kitchen has the best carribean food I have ever tasted, second to none and that is a fact! Completely halal and absolutely amazing taste. Thank you everyone at mama's kitchen, I hope to visit very soon...keep up the great work
Brilliant authentic Caribbean food. So far I have tried the Jerk chicken rice n peas, curry mutton, fried plantain, various patties, and cocobread sandwiches. All have been delicious.
Tried a good few Caribbean takeaways in Nottingham and Mama's is highly recommended ????
I had many patties goat and beef I've eaten them all so no pictures yet to show, the rest of the food menu looks great but haven't tried yet. So my review comes mainly from the impression their patties had on me and also their jerk chicken coco bread, I definitely can say that they have a recipe passed down generation's.
