A delightful gem and well worth a visit. From the small, free car park head south along the obvious wide track. About a third of the way down this east side of the reservoir you'll see the old (disused) railway line and a lot of people use the line to get from one side to the other and make a small circuit back to the car park.
My recommendation though would be to carry on down the main path and you'll come to the dam. There is a footbridge below the dam, and beyond the route becomes a wide surfaced path. At the southern tip of the reservoir you can take a trail along the opposite side. The western side is much wilder and a complete contrast to the eastern side, and very good it is too. A walk around the whole reservoir will take you an hour and a half.
Beautiful place, great for walking, running or dog walking, ( very muddy in places though).
Nice dog walk. Very handy car park. It's only about 2.5 miles round the smaller area of water.
Lovely place. Very relaxing and peaceful.
Take care at the entrance immediately as you turn into it off the main road, potholes are huge, but not obvious. Space for approx 12-15 cars, free, no time limit. Takes about 15 minute walk down the main path to get to see open water and wider scenery. Quite a bit of dog mess to navigate along the route to the Dam. We spotted a bird of prey, swans, mallard & Swifts.
A lovely walk around the reservoir and dam. Plenty of wildlife in plain sight as well as hidden in the woods. A fairly decent walk around but we only did about half the length using the dam as the crossing point back towards the car park.
A lovely free car park with a good walk around the lake. Although not a footpath, it's also good fun to walk over and along the old railway including the old bridge across the river.
Small car park about 20 cars max but really nice walks from here
