The cafe is brilliant love the concept of ordering of the electronic boards and taking a seat and the food is delivered to the table. Jacket potatoes are lovely
They have a bizarre ordering system in this cafe, which takes ages to process. The first time I went there, my latte was barely warm so next time I visited, I selected extra hot, but the drink still wasn't hot. This may have something to do with the extraordinary amount of time it took to deliver 2 drinks and 2 slices of cakes, and the cake tasted stale. The staff didn't seem happy, and who can blame them, but it's not very inviting. This cafe lets M&S down as all the other M&S cafes I've visited have been fine.
We go after swimming every Thursday. The ordering system is very easy once you get the hang of it. Service can be a little hit and miss sometimes but the food and drinks are always lovely and so are the staff. Its a large cafe and always busy, very bright and attracts alot of varied customers which is lovely.
The only problem I found that there are machines that you choose your food and drinks ect but they are not user friendly. Age is usually the culprit.. you do get a lot of older clients and operating the lists online is not easy. The software does not run correctly. Some machines are OK but others are a pain.
Perhaps if you had a small tin on the side ( lots of signs there) people who just want a coffee/drinks could be served there. Instead of holding up " the line".
To say I am 70 myself and I struggle a bit. Rest of the cafe is nice !
Lovely place but unfortunately most of the empty tables needed clearing of dirty pots, and wiping clean. Our table had been cleared but not cleaned and it was covered in milk, water etc from a previous customer. We also noticed other customers using serviettes to clean their own tables. Our order took 15 minutes to arrive (2 hot drinks a scone and a biscuit), despite being very few customers in the cafe. Our 6 year old granddaughter joined us and we ordered a Colin the caterpillar chocolate roll for her , but she was given a teddy bear biscuit and a small bag of cookies instead, as there were no chocolate rolls left. I found that very disappointing as we were seated above the food hall that sells them. Although what we had to eat and drink was lovely, we felt somewhat dismayed by the wait for service, the dirty uncleared tables and the look of disappointment on our young granddaughters face when there was no chocolate roll for her
Great place to do a bit of shopping ????️ and have a nice ???? with a ☕...very clean and well run but the four self serve tills/ordering stations can get busy (you can't buy anything otherwise). The novel way of taking a wireless table locator is a great idea as it allows them to find your table easily and put you in a fair queue...????????✔️
Was towards the end of the day, but the staff were welcoming and thoroughly professional. Only had coffee & a scone but v tasty and just what we needed. Huge thanks to the cafe staff & management. Much appreciated
No problem with the food when you eventually get it. The drinks come out separately from a different area to the food. Teacake first, which was nearly eaten before the drinks arrived, as well as my cousins scone. We had to ask an assistant because it was such a long wait. If the whole order could come out together, then it would be a great system.
