Beautiful hidden gem. Great area for a picnic, a swim and sun bathing. Car park is free but does get filled rather quickly. Pets are allowed and many people bring their bicycles to enjoy the ride. Although it states no BBQ, there’s no one that polices the area but do clean up after yourself. Enjoy!!!
Enjoyed our walk around the arboretum but it would have been so much better had the trails actually been marked so we knew where we were going. Also would have appreciated larger labels on the trees - but that's an age thing:)
Car park had many available spots and the scenery is gorgeous with the big trees covering most of the area. Easy access to the main entrance and it had a nice map where one can locate themselves and choose where to go beforehand.

A lake, with sandy beaches.
Have been twice now, the carpark was near to full, but by the lake, you would hardly know anybody was around.
I'm not sure if you are officially permitted to take boats on the lake (none of the signs say you can't) so both times we've taken inflatable kayaks.
Be aware, there are now life-saving rings that I've seen and the lake gets VERY deep, very quickly.
There are also no toilets (but plenty of trees and bushes)

Car park too far from lake for infirm people to walk. Snack caravan only not a proper cafe.
Brilliant place to walk around and have a picnic. There are plenty of dog friendly walks and great beaches around the lakes.
